24″ Transmission Water Line Breaks in Beaver Falls, BFMA Hopes To Have Water Service Restored by Midnight, Boil Water Advisory in Effect

(Beaver Falls, Pa.) Jim Riggio from the Beaver Falls Municipal Authority reported to Beaver County Radio that a 24 inch transmission water line broke in the area of 10th Ave. and 26th Street in Beaver Falls Monday afternoon around 3PM.
Riggio said that as of 8:45 PM Monday evening all of Beaver Falls is without water as well as part of Eastvale. BFMA is hoping to have water service restored sometime around midnight Monday Night.
All of Beaver Falls and Eastvale are currently under a boil water advisory and Riggio said once the water service is fully restored all of the rest of the Upper Beaver Valley will be under a boil water advisory for up to 48 hours per DEP regulations. The advisory will continue until samples submitted to the DEP meet regulator standards. The communities involved that the BFMA services that will be in the boil water advisory are The City of Beaver Falls, Eastvale Borough, Big Beaver Borough, Patterson, White Township, West Mayfield, South Beaver, and Chippewa Township.  Riggio said that if you are north of the Beaver Falls-New Brighton Bridge and you are serviced by BFMA you will be part of the boil water advisory.

(Aliquippa, PA) All eyes and ears will be open when the St. Elijah Choir hosts its 90th  Concert and Kafana on Saturday, September 17, 2022. Honored guests for this great event that was cancelled the last 2 years due to the pandemic will be the St. George Choir from Lanexa, Kansas. Other choirs participating are; St. Nicholas, Monroeville, Tsar Lazar Male Choir, The SSF Convention choir from the USA and Canada. The choir’s history began in 1930 when 2 socio-music groups formed they were  ‘SVEMIR” and ‘FRUSKA GORA’ and they united forming the St. Elijah Serbian Orthodox Church Choir. The choir continues to perform with enthusiasm and are spirited singers dedicated to the Serbian traditions , culture, and church music.

Doors open at 4:30 p.m. for the event to be held at the Serbian Center at 2200 Irwin Street, dinner is to be served at 5p.m.,The  concert will begin at 6 p.m. Following the concert Srpski Sinovi will provide musical entertainment   Reservations are due Friday, September 9, 2022. Mets-Pirates rained out, split doubleheader for Wednesday

PITTSBURGH (AP) — The Labor Day game between the New York Mets and Pittsburgh Pirates has been postponed due to rain. The teams will play a split doubleheader Wednesday. The first game will be played at 12:35 p.m., and the second game is set for 6:35 p.m. The unexpected day off gives the NL East-leading Mets a chance to take a breath following consecutive losses to Washington over the weekend. It meant Atlanta trimmed New York’s lead to just one game with a month to go in the season.

Canadian police search province for deadly stabbing suspects

REGINA, Saskatchewan (AP) — Canadian police are searching across the expansive province of Saskatchewan for two suspects believed to have stabbed to death 10 people in an Indigenous community and a nearby town in one of the deadliest mass killings in the country’s history. The suspects also injured 15 people in the series of knife attacks that led the James Smith Cree Nation to declare a state of emergency and shook residents of the nearby village of Weldon. Resident Ruby Works, who was close to one of the victims, said “No one in this town is ever going to sleep again.” Police chief Evan Bray said they believe the suspects are in Regina.

But national security experts say recent revelations point to an unprecedented disregard of post-presidency norms established after the Watergate era. As more details emerge from last month’s FBI search of Trump’s Florida home, the Justice Department has painted a portrait of an indifference for the rules on a scale that some thought inconceivable after establishment of the Presidential Records Act in 1978. The act specifies that immediately after a president leaves office, the National Archives and Records Administration takes legal and physical custody of the outgoing administration’s records.

Biden visiting 2 swing states as midterm crunch time begins

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Joe Biden is beginning his Labor Day celebrations with a trip to one battleground state, Wisconsin, before making his third trip in less than a week to another, Pennsylvania. The White House says Biden will be celebrating “the dignity of American workers.” The unofficial start of fall, Labor Day also traditionally kicks off political crunch time, with campaigns scrambling to excite voters ahead of Election Day on Nov. 8. Biden’s trips on Monday will see him return to a theme that was a centerpiece of his 2020 campaign — that labor unions burnished a middle class that built and strengthened modern American society.

Ambridge Man Arrested for Suspicion of DUI

(Aliquippa, PA) State Police in Beaver released details on a traffic stop that took place early Saturday morning in Aliquippa. When Ralph Beasley of Ambridge was stopped by troopers for a traffic violation, he admitted to police that he had been drinking alcohol. Beasley showed signs of impairment and was arrested for suspicion of DUI. Charges are pending.
