$3000 stolen from Darlington man’s wallet

(Darlington Township, Pa) State Police report that a man had $3000 stolen from his wallet. 31 year old Nathan Livingston told police the theft occurred around 10pm in Darlington Township on November 6th. An investigation on on-going.

Little Free Library event distributed winter wear to all ages

(Aliquippa, Pa) A Little Free Library event distributed winter wear to all ages in Aliquippa Sunday. Despite the cold, Rocco and Remy Petrick, along with their parents and others, distributed 410 coats to adults and children at the library site at Main Street and Franklin Avenue in Aliquippa. The St. Peter and Paul students don’t live in Aliquippa, but told Beaver County Radio earlier this year they wanted to help those in need. The pair was assisted by the St. Peter & Paul JV & Varsity basketball teams.  Local collection sites for the event were the City of Aliquippa, B.F. Jones Memorial Library,  Chippewa Library and Outreach Services, eQuip books, Spokane Orthodontics, Arcadia Gymnastics and Tumbleweed Gymnastics, Pizza Joe’s Beaver, Don’s Deli, Artsy Doodle Craft Studio, Old Crow coffee House, Vic’s Oven, The Standard, Shear Distinction by Jakki LLC, Center VFD #3, Mac’s donut shop, Inc., SS Peter and Paul School. The pair thanked T&P Party Co. for donating tables used for the event.

Daugherty Township Fire Department responds to garbage can fire

(New Brighton, Pa) Daugherty Township Fire department responded to a garbage can fire Sunday Afternoon. The incident took place at the Hunky Alley Playground in New Brighton. Daugherty Township handled the fire because New Brighton crews were working at Brightwood Manor Apartments at the same time.

Investigation underway of juveniles throwing rocks off overpass in Franklin Township

(Franklin Township, Pa) State Police report they were dispatched to the intersection of Route 288 and Route 65 in Franklin Township on October 28th. Two unidentified juveniles were allegedly throwing rocks off of an overpass and causing damage to passing cars. A victim has been identified as Ashley Leavens, 42, of Ellwood City, with a 2023 Chevrolet Traverse. An investigation is ongoing and the juveniles face charges of Criminal Mischief of $1000+.

Structure fire in New Brighton extinguished quickly Sunday

(New Brighton, PA) A structure fire broke out at Brightwood Manor Apartments in New Brighton Sunday. New Brighton’s Tower 84 ladder had firefighters working at the roof of one of the buildings. New Brighton Volunteer fire department reports that they received the call at 3:18 pm and the fire was quickly tackled with minimal extension.
Crews began to clear from the scene at 3:45pm as residents waited outdoors to re-enter. No injuries were reported.
The incident occurred at the same building that caught fire in September, leaving two apartments deemed uninhabitable.

Teen allegedly shot in Ambridge over weekend

(New Brighton, PA) Numerous fire crews and emergency responders were called to Brightwood Manor Apartments in New Brighton Sunday afternoon. New Brighton’s Tower 84 ladder had firefighters working at the roof of one of the buildings.
Crews began to clear from the scene at 3:45pm as residents waited outdoors to re-enter. We do not have additional information at this time.
This is the same building that caught fire in September, with two apartments deemed uninhabitable.

Beaver County Celebrates Our Veterans

 

(Beaver. Pa.) The Baden Legion was the host this year of the Beaver County Veterans Day Parade that was held in downtown Beaver on Saturday morning. Twelve Beaver County High School bands along with many civic groups marched down third street to honor all of our veterans. The honored guests of the day were the veterans who served our country so that we can live in freedom.  As the veterans marched and road down third street many of the parade attendees would clap and thank them for their service.

Escapee captured after 9 days when dog bark alerted couple pleads guilty in Pennsylvania

WARREN, Pa. (AP) — A homicide suspect who escaped from a northwestern Pennsylvania prison and was on the run for more than a week before a pet dog led to his recapture in July has pleaded guilty for kidnapping a Pennsylvania couple and his escape. 34-year-old Michael Burham pleaded guilty on Thursday for kidnapping an older couple in Pennsylvania and driving them to South Carolina to evade an investigation in New York where he was suspected of murder. While being held in Warren County on related charges, Burham escaped by climbing on top of exercise equipment to a grated metal roof and slid down a rope that he had made of bedsheets. A Warren County judge is expected to sentence Burham on Jan. 5, 2024.
