The big winner in the county’s 2018 budget, according to our own Greg Benedetti, is District Attorney David Lozier, who previously pleaded his case for an additional full-time assistant while eliminating one part-time position. Lozier got his full-time assistant while cutting the DA’s budget by one-hundred-thousand dollars. The DA’s office spends 2.68 million of the county’s 75.9 million-dollar general fund budget. As for new equipment, such as bullet-proof vests for the drug task force and SWAT team, Lozier got ten-thousand of the 20-thousand he had asked for. The other ten-thousand is going to come from public safety grant monies. New Sewickley Township Man Sentenced To Prison
A New Sewickley Township man accused of giving drugs that led to a woman’s September 2016 death made a plea Wednesday and was sentenced to prison. 46 year old Gary Wimberly was sentenced to serve between two and five years in prison after pleading guilty to a count of possession with intent to deliver. Police said it took nearly two hours for Wimberly to seek help after he found his live-in girlfriend, Darcy Konter, overdosed on herion. Officers and medics found Konter deceased inside the home.

Woman Rescued By Conway Fire Department
A woman is recovering at a hospital and she has three firefighters to thank for rescuing her in Conway. The crew from the Conway Fire Department were on their way to a different fire when they saw a crashed car. They say flames were shooting up as they worked to pull a woman out. She was taken to a hospital for treatment. It’s unclear what caused the crash or if anyone else was involved.
