Jim Shaner from Beaver County Conservation District to Be on Teleforum Tuesday

Tune in Tuesday February 28, 2017 to Teleforum from 9 A.M. to 12 noon. At 11:00 A.M.  Jim Shaner, Executive Director of the Beaver County Conservation District will be on with guest host Frank Sparks. Jim will be discussing the up coming Maple Sugaring Program on March 11,2017 at The Bradys Run Park, Maple Camp (behind the Lodge). It is an instructional program to learn how maple trees are tapped and the process of turning sugar water into maple syrup. The program is Free and starts at 11am. Rochester-Based Lincoln Learning Solutions Announces New VP of Sales

Lincoln Learning Solutions has a new Vice-President this morning. The non-profit organization recently announced its board of trustees unanimously approved the appointment of Brad Neugart to serve as its Vice-President of Sales. Neugart brings with him 25 years of experience in the field. He has already landed two new clients, schools from Louisiana and Michigan. Neugart tells Beaver County Radio newsman Pat Septak that the organization’s standards-based Empowered curriculum is an easy sell. Lincoln Learning Solutions is headquartered right in Beaver County, in the Rochester area, dedicated to empowering 21-Century learning communities. Aliquippa Diversity Council Holding Big Bash Tonight In Anticipation Of Women’s History Month

A wing bash is being sponsored by Aliquippa Diversity Council tonight at the American Italian Club 1928 Irwin St.  Beaver County Radio News Correspondent Sandy Giordano reports that the event is from 6-10 p.m. The cost is $20. This event will benefit a Women’s Empowerment Dinner during Women’s History Month, according to Catherine Colallela, president.   Diversity Council wants to  have a program in place in the community for girls age 12-18. Female role models that can make a difference displaying power and success to be an influence on the girls can participate. Ms. Colalella said girls 12-16 need role models because they are growing up so fast. Tickets for tonight’s event can be purchased at the door.

Monaca Considers Three Locations For New Fire House

Monaca borough officials are weighing several options for a proposed public safety building. Officials plan to to build a public safety building to house the combined fire stations, and if the borough building is sold, the police department. Borough officials decided earlier this month to put the borough building up for sale. Beaver borough manager Mario Leone told guest host Frank Sparks on Teleforum this morning that if the building is sold to developers, the police department would also be located in the public safety building.

Family Of Missing Lawrence County Man Wants Federal Agents On Case

The family of a Lawrence County man who has been missing for more than three years wants federal law enforcement agents to get involved in the case. Christopher Story, of Mahoningtown, disappeared in August 2013. His parents went to check on him at his house, but he was gone. Story’s family has hung posters around the New Castle area, but they are no closer to finding him. There have been unconfirmed sightings over the last three years, but the family is still waiting for answers.

Heroin Overdose Deaths Spike In Beaver County, Nationwide

The number of people dying from heroin overdoses has tripled since 2010, according to data from the National Center for Health Statistics. In 2015, more than 52,000 people died from drug overdoses nationwide. Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf previously said heroin and opioid overdoses are now Pennsylvania’s leading cause of accidental deaths. More than 2,300 opioid overdoses have been reversed by first responders in Pennsylvania from November 2014 to January 2017. Overdose deaths involving fentanyl and tramadol also increased, according to data from 2015 which is the latest year available. Hundreds of people died from opioid overdoses in Beaver, Allegheny, Westmoreland, Butler, and Fayette counties in 2016.

Conti, Esquire.   Ms. Conti , through her firm, Conti Law, LLC, will sponsor the popular “Legal Minute” vignette, which airs at 7:50 A.M. as part of the weekday morning show “A.M. Beaver County”.   The Legal Minute is hosted by national known legal expert  Amy E. Feldman.
