PA Senator Camera Bartolotta, 46 District representing a portion of Beaver County held a teleconference last night on issues such as the opiod crisis facing the state,, property tax reform, domestic violence, and the public school budget crisis, according to Beaver County Radio News Correspondent Sandy Giordano. Some callers felt that the domestic violence laws aren’t sufficient.Many callers were from Greene County, only a few from Canonsburg. She addressed those at length, not so with other callers. Constituents were able to address Bartolotta on the issues during the one hour conference. She held a poll on some of the issues that were addressed. She said if property tax is eliminated personal income tax could rise to 4.9% School taxes would have to be paid until the debt is erased.She said I’m looking to help areas like Beaver County. she said seniors can’t afford the high property taxes, and I can’t stand to see seniors lose their homes. Bartolotta addressed the problem of school funding, she said the $2 billion dollar deficit is due in part to the pensions. She said the formula needs changed. Several teachers in Beaver County have to pay out of pocket for classroom needs. Bartolotta is scheduled to have a representative in H opewell. at the Municipal building on Monday morning.. The representative is scheduled the second Monday of every month.

New Brighton Teen Dies In Two-Car Accident In North Sewickley Township
POLICE HAVE RELEASED THE NAME OF THE TEENAGE DRIVER KILLED THIS MORNING IN A FIERY HEAD-ON CRASH ON ROUTE 65 IN NORTH SEWICKLEY TOWNSHIP. THE CRASH INVOLVING A CAR AND AN S-U-V WAS REPORTED SHORTLY BEFORE 7:00 THIS MORNING. AUTHORITIES SAY 19-YEAR-OLD ISAIAH HUNTER OF NEW BRIGHTON WAS DRIVING THE CAR, AND IT APPEARED THAT HE CROSSED THE CENTER LINE OF THE ROAD, COLLIDING HEAD-ON WITH THE S-U-V. THE CAR CAUGHT FIRE AND OTHER DRIVERS PULLED THE MAN OUT IN AN ATTEMPT TO SAVE HIM, BUT HE DIED. INVESTIGATORS SAY HUNTER WAS ON HIS WAY TO WORK AT THE TIME OF THE ACCIDENT. A WOMAN WHO WAS DRIVING THE S-U-V WAS TAKEN TO HERMITAGE BEAVER VALLEY WITH BACK PAIN, WHERE SHE WAS TREATED AND RELEASED. NO ONE ELSE WAS IN EITHER VEHICLE INVOLVED IN THE CRASH. OFFICIALS SAY A MAN WHO TRIED TO SAVE THE DRIVER WHO DIED WAS TREATED AT THE SCENE FOR SMOKE INHALATION. POLICE SAY ROAD CONDITIONS WERE NOT A FACTOR IN THE CRASH.
Man Charged With Fatally Stabbing Mother In New Castle
A man has been charged with stabbing his mother to death during a confrontation inside her Lawrence County home. Police say 27-year-old Dean Craven stabbed his 57-year-old mother, Lauri, multiple times on Sunday morning. Authorities declared her dead at her Neshannock Township home in New Castle. Craven stayed at the home until police arrived. He was arrested without incident.
Man Facing Charges In New Brighton Restaurant Break-Ins
A man is facing charges in connection to several break-ins at a New Brighton restaurant. John Wellman is accused of forcing entry into the Main Street Deli last week. Wellman jumped out a window to get away from responding officers and when they caught him, he allegedly grabbed one’s weapon, causing it to fire twice. Wellman is also suspected of burglarizing the same deli previously.
Work To Replace Koppel Bridge To Begin Today
Work on a long-anticipated replacement of the 101-year-old Koppel bridge will begin today. Drivers using the bridge will be subject to lane restrictions to accommodate work crews clearing trees and access roads. The estimated cost of the project is $27.58 million. PennDot officials said the new bridge is expected to be open by the end of 2018, but work at the site is expected to continue until early June 2019. The existing bridge, which carries Route 351 over the Beaver River between Koppel and North Sewickley Township, was built in 1915.
State Prison Closure To Impact Beaver County Sheriff’s Office
The Wolf administration is planning to close Pittsburgh State Prison. Governor Wolf made the announcement yesterday, saying the move will save money. Beaver County Sheriff Tony Guy says he wasn’t surprised by the announcement, but he did concede that the closure will have an effect on his office. Guy tells Beaver County Radio newsman Pat Septak that the closure will mean increased travel time to transport jail inmates who receive state prison sentences and will add an additional cost to the budget.
One Person Injured In North Sewickley Crash
One person was injured in a single-vehicle accident in North Sewickley Township yesterday afternoon. The crash occurred around 3 p-m in the 15-hundred block of Mercer Road near Country Club Drive. Police say a pickup truck struck a tree. A bystander administered C-P-R to the male driver until medics arrived, and he was taken by ambulance to Ellwood City Hospital. No word on the victim’s name or condition.

For the past several months scammers have accessed personal computers and placed not only viruses on them, but have obtained passwords and email addresses along with Facebook contacts, according to Beaver County Radio News Correspondent Sandy Giordano. A frantic woman from the Erie area called her family here in the county about the issue.. She was advised to delete any info she thought was suspicious. Beaver County Detective Tim Staub advises against responding to the scammers whether they intercept your computer or call you by phone. A number that has popped up is a Chicago, Ill. exchange it is 1-312-967-5168, They say to the person answering we’re calling about your computer. Do not answer the phone, do not give out any info , a Staples tech services representative advises.. The tech said they even call the store, BEWARE!!! it is a scam!!!
Wine & Cheese Event Tonight In Rochester To Educate Public On Veterans Memorial Project
Tonight the public is invited to a free wine and cheese night at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 128 in Rochester. Former Beaver County Emergency Services Director Wes Hill is board president of the post. He tells Beaver County Radio newsman Pat Septak that tonight’s event will be a chance for the community to learn more about the project to relocate the Veterans Memorial. He says the Civil War Soldier Monument in Rochester will be part of the new Veterans Memorial planned for the roundabout. The event runs from 7 to 9 pm tonight and donations will be accepted.
