(Pittsburgh, PA) According to an announcement from CitiParks on Sunday, they will open six cooling centers today from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. in the Pittsburgh area because of the recent hot temperatures. The locations of these cooling centers are as follows:
• Beechview Healthy Active Living Community Center, 1555 Broadway Avenue
• Brighton Heights Healthy Active Living Community Center, 3515 McClure Avenue
• Greenfield Healthy Active Living Community Center, 745 Greenfield Avenue
• Homewood Healthy Active Living Community Center, 7321 Frankstown Road
• Sheraden Healthy Active Living Community Center, 720 Sherwood Avenue
• South Side Healthy Active Living Community Center, 12th & Bingham Streets

(Mlidland, PA) The MainStage theater at Lincoln Park Performing Arts Center in Midland will host the show “Doo-Wop and Pop” at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, July 25th. Pittsburgh acts Pure Gold, Jimmie Ross and Chris Ruggiero will perform in the second edition of Pure Black & Gold Oldies. Tickets start at $18 each. (Chicago, IL) McDonald’s recently announced they are putting three new items for breakfast on their menu next week: the Spicy McMuffin, Spicy Sausage McMuffin and Spicy Sausage McMuffin with Egg. According to a news release, the McMuffins will feature their traditional ingredients of cheese, egg, Canadian bacon or sausage, and a buttered English muffin, topped with Spicy Pepper Sauce. Starting Tuesday, July 8th, the Spicy McMuffin and its subsidiaries will be available for a limited time at participating McDonald’s locations. These McMuffins are being brought to McDonald’s menus for a limited time to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the McMuffin.

(Spring Township, PA) According to authorities, a Pennsylvania man driving a go-kart on the street died after hitting another vehicle last week and he was not wearing a helmet or a seat belt. On June 26th, 2025, thirty-year-old Kolbe Straw of Beaver Springs died after he hit a van near the Middle Creek Road and Sandhill Road intersection. The van was driven by twenty-year-old Levi Hostetler of McClure, Pennsylvania. At the scene, Straw was then pronounced dead.

(York County, PA) A bill called the Flouride Choice Act was recently introduced by Pennsylvania Senator Dawn Keefer to ban fluoride in drinking water that is public across Pennsylvania. Keefer made the model for the bill after a bill that banned fluoride in water that is public in the state of Utah. There was no response from the office of Governor Josh Shapiro about if he would sign the bill from Keefer or not. The Pennsylvania Senate Environmental Resources & Energy Committee got a referral about this bill.

(Delaware County, PA) Pennsylvania State Representative Lisa Borowski recently had legislation introduced to ban sneaky tactics of subscription enrollment. Borowski wants to prohibit the practice known as negative options. She believes that opting into a service instead of opting out will save Pennsylvanians millions of dollars every year. This legislation has already passed the House of Representatives in the state of Pennsylvania and is now going to the Pennsylvania Senate.

(Ross Township, PA) According to an announcement on Thursday from Allegheny County Public Works, Jacks Run Road Bridge No. 3 is closed because of corroded steel in its only pier. The steel was found by inspectors and the Ross Township bridge will be closed for a time that is undetermined after it gets inspected. The reason the bridge got closed is because the corroded steel made it impossible for the weight that the bridge can hold to be determined by engineers.

(Beaver County, PA) On Wednesday, the CJ2K basketball league ended its 2025 summer season with its two championship basketball games at the “Concrete Jungle” at Brady’s Run Park. This league has partnered up with the Cleveland Cavaliers and Cavs Youth Sports for its sixth season. The Pottsville Clovers beat the Vaughnville Villains in the girls game 51-47 for their second straight title. The Hopewell Showtime beat the McKees Rocks Spuronis in the boys game.

(Aliquippa, PA) The Aliquippa City Council addressed a decision at their regular session Wednesday night. San Rocco’s Cultural Committee requested to hold an event at Lefty Cepull Field in Aliquippa. The event was supposed to be held at the center of St. Elijah Serbian Orthodox Church in Aliquippa on Friday, August 8th to Sunday, August 10th. Fred Persi confirmed to the Aliquippa City Council that the church did not respond to his request yet.
