Construction Begins On Route 68 In Industry

CONSTRUCTION ALONG ROUTE 68 IN INDUSTRY HAS BEGUN…WHICH MEANS THE ROADWAY IS NOW DOWN TO ONE LANE. THE CLOSURE – WHICH WENT INTO EFFECT YESTERDAY MORNING – COULD CAUSE TRAFFIC DELAYS IN THE AREA FOR THE NEXT SEVERAL MONTHS. IT IS ALSO ON THE SAME ROUTE TAKEN DAILY BY TRUCKS SUPPLYING CONCRETE TO BUILD SHELL CHEMICALS’ 6-BILLION-DOLLAR ETHANE CRACKER PLANT. SHELL REPRESENTATIVES ARE MEETING WITH PENNDOT OFFICIALS THIS MORNING TO DECIDE WHETHER OR NOT TO CHANGE THE ROUTE THE CEMENT TRUCKS TAKE TO GET TO THE PLANT. PENNDOT EXPECTS THE PROJECT TO LAST UNTIL SEPTEMBER.

Woman Swerves To Avoid Deer, Crashes Over Embankment In New Sewickley Township

A woman crashed over an embankment this morning after she swerved to avoid hitting a deer in North Sewickley Township, investigators say. The accident was reported on River Road, near its intersection with Old River Road. The car was found wedged between several trees, which prevented it from going over a cliff. Crews had to cut open the side of the car to get the woman out. The unidentified woman was taken to a hospital to be treated for injuries, but she is expected to be OK.

Property Next To Beaver Valley Mall For Sale

Four parcels next to the Beaver Valley Mall have been listed for sale by the mall’s owner, Namdar Realty. The parcels include property that is currently home to Arby’s, Burger King, Huntington Bank and National Tire and Battery. The asking price for all four properties is a combined $6.24 billion.
