Leaders Serving Beaver County holds the next installment of its “Forged In Steel” Leaders Workshop series this Thursday, October 20th in Beaver. LSBC Executive Director Rebecca Matco tells Beaver County Radio newsman Pat Septak that the guest speaker that morning will be Dr. Diane Galbraith of Slippery Rock University. She’ll be speaking on the principle of contagious humility. That’s this Thursday morning from 7:30 to 9 am at the Lodge at Penn State Beaver, in the student union building. Beaver County’s Prescription Drug Take-Back Initiative Expands
Beaver County District Attorney David Lozier issued a press release yesterday announcing that the drug take back program has expanded to six more sites in the county.Boxes were placed in Beaver Falls police Department(box provided by CVS), ,, Midland, Monaca, and New Brighton. Ambridge’s box hasn’t been put in place , the district attorney said . The take back program will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday with local police and county detectives present sat the sites from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. No liquids are accepted, non prescription pills and capsules along with prescriptions are accepted, he said. Lozier said in April 573 pounds of capsules and tablets were turned in , averaging 47 pounds per department. He urged residents clean out your medicine cabinets make your home safe from drug theft and drug abuse by taking the drugs to one of the designated sites.
Good News For Motorists Who Use Brodhead Road In Aliquippa
Motorists travelling north and south on Brodhead Road in Aliquippa can breathe a little easier. Beaver County Radio News Correspondent Sandy Giordano reports that the road was completed by 5 p.m. yesterday. The road construction headaches caused detours and traffic tie ups throughout the day during the project.
Beaver County D.A. David Lozier Denies Rumors Of “Rigged” Election
Beaver County’s District Attorney is denying rumors of a “rigged” election. Republican Presidential nominee Donald Trump is alleging large-scale voter fraud. But D.A. David Lozier tells Beaver County Radio’s Pat Septak that with respect to Beaver County, there is absolutely no evidence that has been presented as of this date that there was or will be any type of voter fraud in our jurisdiction, let alone systemic voter fraud or rigged polling places.
Missing Aliquippa Woman Found At Pittsburgh Hospital
A missing Aliquippa woman was found safe at a Pittsburgh hospital this morning. According to officials, 61-year-old Debra Ann Freeman was reported missing late last night. This morning, she was located at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital. She is also known as Debra Hines. A search in Aliquippa had previously been called off after several hours.

More Coyote Sightings Reported In Beaver County
Hopewell Township is another area, like Potter that has seen its share of coyotes, according to a Game Commission spokesman residing in the township. According to Beaver County Radio News Correspondent Sandy Giordano, the spokesman said it is a problem year round because of the wooded areas. He advises residents to keep their pets in the house, and get rid of trash. One of the areas that has seen its share of coyotes is near the school district’s baseball fields.
Former Quip Basketball Coach And Teacher Dies
James “Red” McNie, 89, a retired teacher and Quip basketball coach passed away on Friday, according to Beaver County Radio News Correspondent Sandy Giodano. McNie of Moon Township had a long successful career. He was hired as assistant coach and teacher in 1969, he was head coach from 1976-1993. McNie teams won 1 PIAA title, and 3 WPIAL championships. He’s survived by his wife Margie (Cooney), and daughter Bridget, and other family members. Visitation is at Copeland’s Moon Twp. from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday.
Man In Custody After Daylong Standoff In Aliquippa
A man was arrested after a standoff in Aliquippa Sunday. Police fired tear gas into the home along Fifth Avenue. Shortly after, they pulled a man from the home. The man has been identified as Richard Jackson. Police say he threatened his family after a domestic dispute. Police and a SWAT team surrounded the home for more than six hours before moving in to make the arrest.
