Fatal Shooting Of Woman Investigated In Aliquippa

Police are investigating the shooting death of a woman in Aliquippa late last night. According to Beaver County emergency officials, the shooting occurred in the 14-hundred block of Wade Street and  was reported shortly before 11 p.m. When officers arrived at the scene, they found the woman lying in the street near a minivan. No arrests have been made.

Ambridge Man Killed In Suspect Murder-Suicide

Two men, including one from Ambridge, are dead and a woman was critically injured following a domestic related incident that occurred Saturday night in the 400 block of Bausman Street in the Knoxville section of Pittsburgh. 47-year-old Joseph Goldmsith of Pittsburgh and 46-year-old Christopher Dancy of Ambridge were pronounced dead at 7:41 p.m., according to Pittsburgh police. The Allegheny County medical examiner’s office ruled Dancy’s death a homicide and said Goldsmith killed himself. Police say a 37-year-old woman was hit in the chest and leg and taken to UPMC Mercy in critical condition.

New Castle Man Charged With Rape

Police in Shenago Township have accused a New Castle man with giving a 15 year old girl alcohol and raping her. 23 year old Cody Myers is being charged with rape, statutory sexual assault, corruption of minors along with a number of other charges. The alleged incidents took place from December of 2015 until January of 2016. Myers was arraigned and placed in the Lawrence County Jail on 10 thousand dollars bond.

Truck Carrying 38,000 Lbs. Of Soy Milk Overturns On I-79 In Robinson Township

An overturned tractor-trailer blocked the right lane of northbound Interstate 79 this morning in Robinson Township. Emergency crews were called shortly after 3 a.m. to mile marker 63 at the Coraopolis ‘S’ bend.  Traffic was periodically stopped while crews worked to remove the tractor-trailer. There were no reports of injuries. The truck was carrying 38,000 lbs. of soy milk, which will have to be loaded onto another truck. Both lanes reopened shortly after 6 this morning, but delays continue as the tractor-trailer remains off to the side of the road.

Spring Forward – Daylight Savings Time Begins Sunday

Time will jump forward this weekend as the annual Daylight Saving Time period begins at 2 a-m Sunday. Residents should turn their clocks ahead one hour before they go to bed Saturday night. Daylight Saving Time will run until November 5th. Safety experts recommend that people use this clock shift as a reminder to also check batteries in their smoke detectors.

Christiana Talks About His Call For Inquiry Into Split With Gateway on Beaver County Radio’s Teleforum

Gateway Rehabilitation Center in Center Township previously contracted with Beaver County to provide drug and alcohol treatment services. State Representative Jim Christiana made headlines this week when he announced that he was seeking an inquiry into the contract dispute between the county and Gateway Rehab and the effects that the dispute has had on county residents who need treatment for addiction. Christiana told Frank Sparks on Teleforum Friday morning that he’ll do whatever it takes to bring the two sides together again so they can resume negotiations.

Beaver Falls Man Found Not Guilty In 2013 Slaying

A BEAVER COUNTY JURY HAS ACQUITTED A BEAVER FALLS MAN IN THE 2013 SHOOTING DEATH OF HIS LONGTIME FRIEND. 40-YEAR-OLD ERIC WASHINGTON WAS FOUND NOT GUILTY YESTERDAY AFTERNOON IN THE KILLING OF 45-YEAR-OLD JEROME GOOSBY OF BEAVER FALLS. GOOSBY WAS SHOT AND KILLED OUTSIDE THE BRIGHTON PIONEER ELKS CLUB IN THE 600 BLOCK OF SEVENTH STREET IN THE CITY. THE JURY DELIBERATED JUST TWO HOURS BEFORE REACHING THE VERDICT.

‘”WHAT’S ON YOUR PLATE?”

Beaver County Radio News Correspondent Sandy Giordano reports that a  health expo entitled:WHAT’S ON YOUR PLATE”?  is being held at the CCBC Dome tomorrow beginning at 9 a.m., according to Bob Catley, communications outreach coordinator for Hertitage Valley.  Catley said in a phone interview the event has been in the works for 4 months.  Approximately 100 vendors will be on hand, free food and product samples, and fitness and xooking demos will be featured. Man, 91, Shot & Killed During Lawrence Co. Standoff

A 91-year-old man is dead after a standoff in Lawrence County ended with a police-involved shooting. Police were called to the home on Spring Street in Union Township after a woman said her uncle fired a shot at her. After a more than three-and-a-half hour standoff, police say Frank Wratny confronted New Castle Police with a gun from the front door. Officers shot Wratny and he died at the scene. State police are handling the investigation.
