911 Dispatchers: Missing Child Found in New Sewickley Twp.

Emergency dispatchers have confirmed that a child who went missing in New Sewickley Township last night has been found. Dispatchers say the search for the child began around 9:30 p.m. off of Route 68 in New Sewickley Township. The child was located a short time later just after 10 p.m. No additional details were released.

Handcuffed Woman Who Stole Cop Car Agrees to 4-8 Years

A Beaver County woman accused of leading officers on a chase in a stolen police cruiser while handcuffed earlier this year appeared in court today.  Investigators say 27-year-old Roxanne Rimer led officers on a chase through Center Township and Monaca after crawling through the glass partition of an officer’s cruiser. Police say Rimer was detained on shoplifting suspicions prior to the chase and somehow managed to drive the cruiser with her hands behind her back. According to police, Rimer drove down Route 51 at 100 mph for nearly 10 miles with her hands behind her back. Rimer was supposed to go to trial today, but instead agreed to a plea deal. She will serve four to eight years for aggravated assault and  fleeing and eluding.

PA. Gaming Commission Officers Warning Beaver County Drivers To Beware of Deer

We’re smack in the middle of deer mating season…and Pennsylvania Game Commission officers are reminding drivers they need to be vigilant and use extra caution while on the roads. Wildlife Conservation Officer Mike Yecht’s beat includes the northern half of Beaver County, including New Sewickley Township, Beaver Falls, New Brighton, Brighton Township, mainly the Ohio River north all the way to the Lawrence County line. He tells Beaver County Radio that sometimes it’s better to hit the deer than to swerve and hit a tree, endangering lives. To report a dead deer removal from state roads, motorists can call PennDOT at 1-800-FIX-ROAD.

Special Panel Meets Today In Harrisburg

A special investigative panel meets today in Harrisburg, tasked with determining whether Attorney General Kathleen Kane should be removed from office. Kane has had her law license temporarily suspended as she faces perjury and other allegations.

Blaze At Ellwood City Factory Still Smoldering

Investigators are looking into what caused a fire at an Ellwood City metal recycling plant. Firefighters from a wide area had been battling that blaze at the Inmetco plant since 9:30 a.m. yesterday. 12 fire departments responded to the fire. The Lawrence County 911 Center reported no injuries and no evacuations had been ordered. The fire was still smoldering as of noontime today.

Victim of Fatal Fire in New Sewickley Township Identified

The man who died Saturday night in a house fire in New Sewickley Township has been identified. The coroner identified the victim as 55-year-old Jack Rushman. Autopsy results are not yet available. The call for the fire came in around 6 p.m. Officials say the fire was fully involved by the time firefighters arrived on the scene. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Beaver Falls Historical Society Celebrates 70th Anniversary

The Beaver Falls Historical Society is celebrating its 70th Anniversary this weekend. The organization is inviting the public to an open house Saturday at the Beaver Falls Historical Society museum, where you can experience living history. The museum houses a collection of photographs, clothing, china and glassware. Betty Anderson – the director of the museum – tells Beaver County Radio she will be giving free tours of the museum tomorrow from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the lower level of the Carnegie Free Library of Beaver Falls. Goose Hunt At Brady’s Run Park

Some traffic restrictions for those going to Brady’s Run Park in the coming week… Visitors will have to avoid some parts of the park due to the annual controlled goose hunt. According to a Beaver County press release, for safety reasons, the area from the lodge to shelter 15 will be closed to park visitors on Monday morning and the morning of November 13th until 11 a.m. Again, this is because of the hunters in the area that will be shooting geese at the lake. The county sheriff’s department will monitor traffic through the park during the hunting dates.

Woman Missing In McConnells Mill State Park Found Safe

Emergency dispatchers say a woman who went missing in McConnells Mill State Park in Lawrence County last night has been found safe. Dispatchers made contact with the woman around 9 p.m. and found her just before 11 p.m. near the Slippery Rock Gorge Trail. The woman, who was identified as 23-year-old Lindsay Dickie of Valencia called for help around 7 p.m. after she sprained her ankle while hiking alone in the park. She said she became disoriented in the park after nightfall. Paramedics at the scene evaluated her sprained ankle and checked her for possible hypothermia.
