Firefighters Save Dog From Beaver Falls House Fire

Firefighters are being credited with saving a dog from a house fire in Beaver Falls over the weekend. It happened in the one-thousand block of Tenth Avenue Sunday afternoon. When firefighters arrived, they found the one-year-old pit bull in a cage with the homeowners away. The dog was uninjured but the home isn’t inhabitable.

Two Police Cruisers Hit During Chase Through Center Township

Police say two police cruisers were hit by a suspect during a chase through a busy Beaver County community today. Investigators say officers were searching for a stolen truck around 10 a.m. in Center Township. When police spotted the truck, the driver and two juveniles inside took off. Police say the 5-minute chase reached speeds of up to 60 mph.

Route 351 Koppel Bridge Traffic Stoppages Begin Today In Beaver County

PennDOT District 11 is announcing traffic stoppages on the Koppel Bridge (Route 351) in Koppel Borough and North Sewickley Township will begin today, December 3 weather permitting. Traffic stoppages of 15 minutes or less will occur weekdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the Koppel Bridge through Tuesday, January 15. Crews from will conduct steel erection for the new bridge from the existing structure. Motorists should expect delays.

Memorial Service For Beaver County Airman To Be Held This Week

A memorial service for Staff Sgt. Dylan Elchin, 25, a native of Beaver County, will be held on Thursday afternoon. Elchin is one of three service members killed by a roadside bomb in Afghanistan’s Ghazni province last Tuesday. Elchin was a 2012 graduate of Hopewell High School. According to the William Murray Funeral Home, friends are invited to visit with Elchin’s family Thursday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. in the Impact Christian Chapel (The Landing), 330 Hookstown Grade Road, Moon Township. A memorial service will be held there at 4 p.m. the same day. Elchin will be laid to rest in Arlington National Cemetery.

PennDOT: Route 65 Lane Restrictions Today and Tuesday in Beaver County

PennDOT is announcing single-lane restrictions on Route 65 in Conway, Freedom, East Rochester, and Rochester boroughs will occur today and Tuesday, December 3-4 weather permitting. Crews will conduct centerline joint sealing operations on Route 65 between Crows Run Road and the Route 18 Rochester-Monaca Bridge from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day.  To allow the crews to conduct the work, single-lane restrictions will occur in each direction of Route 65 for the slow-moving, mobile operation. Motorists should use caution when traveling through the corridor.  According to PennDOT, work zone safety is everyone’s responsibility.
