Piratesget Bryce Brentz from Red Sox for cash!!!

BRADENTON, Fla. — The Pirates added another player to their outfield competition on Tuesday afternoon by acquiring Bryce Brentz from the Red Sox.

Pittsburgh traded cash to Boston for Brentz, a 29-year-old who hit 31 home runs for Triple-A Pawtucket last season. Brentz made his Major League debut for the Red Sox against the Pirates in 2014, his first hit was a double off Francisco Liriano — and played 25 games in ’16, posting an overall .287/.311/.379 line with one homer in 90 career MLB plate appearances.

rentz spent all of last season in Triple-A, where he slashed .271/.334/.529 while setting a career high in homers and driving in 85 runs. He recently became expendable for the Red Sox, who needed to clear a 40-man roster spot to fit free-agent signing J.D. Martinez.

1st Consultants Tom Young appears on Teleforum Tuesday February 20, 2017

Tom Young ChFC, CLU, RFC from 1st Consultants in Beaver made his monthly appearance on Teleforum with Frank Sparks on Tuesday, February 20, 2018. The show was also streamed live on Facebook. Tom talked about a variety of topics from what Banks do with your money to taxes and why if you are in debt you shouldn’t be investing in the market. Tom and Frank went over traditional retirement plans and why they are not the way to go. Tom stated that with a traditional retirement plan all your doing is putting money away for retirement that isn’t taxed but when you are ready to retire you’ll have to pay taxes on the money and as you use the money the taxes will more than likely be higher  rates than they are now. Check the Facebook live Feed from the show below and if you have any questions for Tom or would like to utilize 1st Consultants services you can call 724-728-6820 or you can check out 1st consultants web side by clicking on the logo below. Announcement By CCBC Sparks Positive Attitudes

Earlier today, the Community College of Beaver County announced its plans to work with Shell and Mascaro, in an effort to expand the campus physically (adding a Construction Academy, expanding the Process Technology Center), as well as broadening its opportunities for present and future students. In addition, Mascaro and Shell are donating a combined $1.5 million to the Monaca college.

This announcement brought on good vibrations throughout the Golden Dome, including from Beaver County Commissioner Chairwoman Sandie Egley (in a live interview with Pat Septak):

CCBC President Chris Reber also had a good feeling about the college going forward:

And Shell’s Vice President of the Pennsylvania Department, Hilary Mercer, talked about the expansion of the college being a strong tunnel for students going forward:

Here’s some more shots from today’s big announcement at the college:

CCBC Announces Building Expansion, Receives $1.5 Million In Donations

One day after school was out of session due to President’s Day, the Community College of Beaver County resumed classes…and announced they were back.

In an hour-long ceremony at the Golden Dome, CCBC made official the announcement that they were beginning a new initiative, including expanding the current Process Technology Center, and working with local companies such as Shell and Mascaro. Mascaro is making a $500,000 donation to the college and creating the Mascaro Construction Academy, dedicated to helping those who want to learn their futures in the construction business.

Shell, whose newest plant in Potter Township is expected to bring positive economy and jobs to Beaver County, donated $1 Million to CCBC toward the expansion of the Process Technology Center. Today’s announcement follows CCBC’s previous announcement of joining forces with other colleges announced in December.

The ceremony also included several promotional videos, as well as a pre-recorded message from Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf.

PA Supreme Court Map Puts Beaver County In New 17th Congressional District; Lawrence County In 16th

The map of congressional districts imposed by Pennsylvania’s high court for the state’s 2018 elections puts Beaver County in a new 17th Congressional District with much of Allegheny County, while Lawrence County would be in a 16th Congressional District stretching to Erie. The new map also gives Democrats a boost in their mission to wrest control of the U.S. House. Republicans have vowed to immediately challenge it in federal court, perhaps as early as Tuesday. The map of Pennsylvania’s 18 congressional districts takes effect for the May 15 primary and substantially overhauls a Republican-drawn congressional map widely viewed as among the nation’s most gerrymandered.
