A Chippewa Township woman is facing welfare fraud charges. Ashley Wetzel was charged November 15th after investigators determined she was receiving benefits from the commonwealth while not living in Pennsylvania in 2017. It’s believed the 34-year-old collected welfare benefits from Kentucky and Colorado earlier that same year.

The Beaver County Board of Commissioners will be unable to attend their monthly spot on “Ask the Commissioners”, which airs on Beaver County Radio, on December 6th. The Board of Commissioners Rescheduled their public meeting from December 13th to December 6th at 10am. At this meeting the Commissioners will be voting on the 2019 Preliminary Budget.

Teachers and students in the Freedom Area School District are getting ready for their first active intruder drill this week. Officials say it will happen Wednesday… and, for the first time, will include the student body. Students as young as third grade will take part in the drill tomorrow…while younger kids will read the book “I’m Not Scared, I’m Prepared” and discuss what to do in an emergency.
