BOTH CAMP AND AMADIO SAID THEY WOULD CONSIDER A 2.8 MILL TAX INCREASE. ALL THREE COMMISSIONERS WILL MEET AGAIN FRIDAY AT 1 P.M. TO CONTINUE THEIR BUDGET DISCUSSIONS. Child Predator Internet Sting Nabs Beaver County Man

Eight people – including a Beaver County man – are facing charges following a child predator Internet sting. The arrests were announced yesterday as part of Operation e-Traffic. Officials say undercover agents pretended to be children and arranged sexual encounters with adults. Attorney General Bruce Beemer warned parents that, “These arrests should serve as a reminder that child predators are increasingly turning to the internet to seek out children in our communities.”

Issue of Friendship Ridge Sale Still Unsettled, Beaver County Solicitor Says

Beaver County solicitor Andrea Cantelmi says she has spoken to Comprehensive Healthcare management and Comprehensive Healthcare management Comprehensive is still reviewing the letter sent by the county, outlining a one-point–four-million-dollar amount due by Comprehensive to settle the sale of Friendship Ridge. That’s according to Beaver County’s Greg Benedetti, who says the solicitor had not timetable as to when Comprehensive Healthcare will respond. The commissioners had no comment on the matter, referring the question to the solicitor.

Aliquippa City Council Holds Its Monthly Work Session

Aliquippa City Council  met last night for  its monthly work session and opened for prayer and  a moment of silence.  Dimantae  Bronaugh 19, Aliquippa football star lost his battle with leukemia Tuesday night. According to Beaver County Radio News Correspondent Sandy Giordano, Mayor Dwan Walker said he has been asked to speak at the funeral.  He will issue a proclamation to the family. Police Chief Don Couch   announced that Frank “Champ”  Cangiano passed away Tuesday.  Cangiano was a school crossing guard for 18 yrs. He was 86 years old. Code  enforcement officer Mike Demcak  announced that tentative approval from attorneys for the planning and zoning boards  for a new Burger King was given.  He said they are awaiting Penn DOT’s approval..  The site is at 2624 Brodhead Rd. Applicants for the Aliquippa Redevelopment Authority  should submit a resume to City Administrator Sam Gill  at the city building. Mr. Gill announced that  he will attend a meeting with the county council of governments today  concerning blighted and distressed areas in the county. Mayor Walker said the city needs help from the state and federal government s so the city can see more black, not red on their budgets. He said, they need to step up and help us.” Mayor Walker said that Christmas banners used in prior years have to be replaced.  The banners will be purchased through Street Decor, Inc. for $1,804. Tonight is LIGHT UP NIGHT IN THE CITY AT 6 p.m.  Residents are advised to meet at the city building and proceed to the front of the police station.  Following the lighting of the tree, refreshments will be served at the city building.  A boys and girls bike, donated by the police department will be raffled off.  Children must put their name on a ticket for the drawing. Santa will visit all neighborhoods on  Wednesday, December 14 beginning at 5 p.m. in West Aliquippa, Fire Chief Dave Foringer announced.

Beaver County Commissioners Have Yet To Come To Agreement On Whether To Raise Taxes in 2017 Budget

The Beaver County Commissioners are undecided on what to do about a tax increase for next year, and after a nearly three-hour meeting today, the commissioners will hold another public work session Friday at 1:00. According to Beaver County Radio’s Great Benedetti, the commissioners have started to center their conversations on a two-point-eight mill tax increase that would still leave the county with a three-million-dollar deficit next year. Budget director Ricardo Luckow says the projected deficit for next year is nine-point-two million dollars.

Pickup Truck And School Bus Involved In Crash In Center Township

The accident in Center Township this morning involving a school bus and pickup truck necessitated Aliquippa firefighters to respond to the scene, to assist  A fire department spokesman said that there was  involved. Beaver County Radio News Correspondent Sandy Giordano reports that Center Township Police Chief  Barry Kramer said the pickup truck crossed the center line  striking the school bus , and came to rest with a telephone pole. The accident occurred between West Woodland Drive and East Shaffer Road. The  truck driver was taken to AGH by ambulance. No word on  the driver’s condition  was available, Chief Kramer said. A school district spokesperson said there were no students on the bus at the time.

Ambridge Teachers Set Strike Date

Lauren Mawhinney, president of the Ambridge Area Education Association said this morning  that teachers are optimistically hopeful that  there will be a fair settlement  when they meet with the school board on December 12. Beaver County Radio News Correspondent Sandy Giordano reports that the teachers have been without a contract since   January 2015. Mrs. Mawhinney said the 2 sided began negotiating  in June 2015, and both sides rejected the arbitrator’s decision. If no settlement is reached on December 12, the teachers will begin striking December 13, 2016.

Aliquippa Football Star Dies

DiMantae Bronaugh, Aliquippa High School footbal star lost his battle with leukemia last night at 6:10 p.m. , according to school officials. Beaver County Radio News Correspondent Sandy Giordano reports that he was presented with his high school diploma yesterday morning at UPMC Children’s Hospital. Several blood and bone marrow drives were held  to try and find a donor for the bone marrow transplant, and another one was scheduled this week.

Aliquippa Police Officer Charged In Pittsburgh Shooting Turns Self In

The Aliquippa police officer charged in a shooting last week in Pittsburgh that wounded an Allegheny County Jail corrections officer has turned himself in to authorities, according to a statement from Pittsburgh police. 24-year-old Josh Gonzalez of Brentwood who said he had been on the Aliquippa force for five months, turned himself in around 10:30 this morning after he was charged Saturday by city police with one count of aggravated assault in the shooting of Kevin Miller, a corrections officer for nine years at the county jail. The charges stemmed from an incident that happened Thursday.

Hopewell Township Hit And Run Under Investigation

Hopewell Township are investigating a motor vehicle accident that  occurred at the route 376 west ramp intersecting Green Garden Road last Wednesday at approximately 5:18 p.m. According to Beaver County Radio News Correspondent Sandy Giordano, Police Chief Brian Uhrmacher said  a vehicle went through the stop sign  at the end of the ramp striking a minivan traveling  on Green Garden Road.  Injured parties were taken to the hospital.  The vehicle which struck the minivan , according to witness accounts said the driver headed toward Raccoon Twp.  Chief Uhrmacher said  the vehicle, is believed to be a white Chevy Trailblazer with front end damage.  The front bumper and headlamp was left at the scene, and witnesses said it was smoking when it  left the scene . Chief Uhrmacher said several police agencies checked the area for the vehicle ,  and it hasn’t been located as of last night.
