DETROIT (AP) — Many workers who are on strike against General Motors say they’re ready to go back to work now that their union has agreed on a tentative four-year contract with the company. The United Auto Workers union announced Wednesday morning that it had reached the deal that could end the monthlong strike.
SEOUL, South Korea (AP) — North Korea has released a series of photos showing leader Kim Jong Un riding a white horse to a sacred mountain he has often climbed before making key decisions. Near the mountain, Kim reportedly vowed to overcome U.S.-led sanctions that he said had both pained and infuriated his people.

Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York, one of the most influential voices among young liberals and a rising Democratic star, plans to endorse Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., for president and appear with him at a rally on Saturday, according to two people with knowledge of her plans. Congresswmoan Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., another member of the “Squad” of four liberal congresswomen, also announced late Tuesday that she was backing Sanders. The surprise endorsements are a political coup for Sanders, who has been fading in the polls and faced growing questions about his age and health. Before Tuesday’s Democratic debate, he had been sidelined from the campaign trail for two weeks by a heart attack.
Former Vice President Joe Biden would not pardon President Donald Trump if he’s elected to the White House because “it wouldn’t unite the country,” as former President Gerald Ford reasoned in 1974 for absolving Richard Nixon for his Watergate crimes. President Trump is under investigation by the House for possible impeachment regarding a July telephone call with the Ukrainian president and whether he suggested an investigation of Biden and his son Hunter. Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf is telling President Donald Trump he won’t be using state authority granted last month to refuse to accept refugees. Wolf on Tuesday wrote the President and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo to say his state will continue to welcome those facing persecution and danger, including people that other states won’t accept. The president’s order requires state and local officials to provide public written consent to receive refugees.
HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) — A former Pennsylvania state senator’s conviction for using government employees to work on political campaigns is being upheld by federal appeals judges. A federal appeals panel on Tuesday ruled against former Allegheny County Republican Sen. Jane Orie, saying her second trial in 2012 did not constitute double jeopardy. The appeals court says it also was not a violation for the first trial to be halted during jury deliberations because a forgery had just come to light.
Former Penn State assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky will learn next month what his new prison sentence will be for a 45-count child sexual abuse conviction. An order was filed Tuesday in Centre County that set Sandusky’s resentencing for Nov. 8th. Sandusky was convicted and sentenced in 2012 to 30 to 60 years, but the state Superior Court ruled in February that mandatory minimums had been improperly applied.
UNDATED (AP) — Seven members of an extended British family who made an unauthorized border crossing into the United States from Canada are being held in federal custody at a Pennsylvania detention center nearly two weeks after their arrest. The family says they mistakenly crossed the border into Washington state while trying to avoid an animal in the road. An affidavit says family members have been “treated like criminals” by their jailers. U.S. officials assert the family crossed the border on purpose.
