Pirates Treasure Chest Makes Its Way To Towne Square Restaurant

It was a gorgeous day outside, but the action was happening inside at Towne Square Restaurant in Beaver! Beaver County Radio came out to 3rd Street in Beaver with the Prize Van, the Personality Prize Wheel, and the Pirates Treasure Chest!

Ed Hermick and Matt Drzik were there during the afternoon, greeting several customers, manning the Prize wheel, and making sure that the Chest was soundly guarded. Several winners were made at the appearance, and everyone who ate at Towne Square (including Ed & Matt) were left satisfied!

WH Press Secretary Sarah Sanders Stepping Down At End Of June

WASHINGTON (AP) — White House press secretary Sarah Sanders says she wants to spend more time with her family. But she says she’s not ruling out options for the future. Sanders is leaving her job at the end of the month, and President Donald Trump is encouraging her to run for governor of Arkansas, where her father was previously governor. Sanders is one of Trump’s closest and most trusted White House aides and one of the remaining few who worked on his campaign.

Trump Walks Back Earlier Remark; Now Says He’d ‘Of Course’ Tell FBI If He Gets Foreign Dirt

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump said Friday that “of course” he would go to the FBI or the attorney general if a foreign power offered him dirt about an opponent. It was an apparent walkback from his earlier comments that he might not contact law enforcement in such a situation. Trump, in an interview Friday with “Fox & Friends,” said he would “of course” look at the information in order to determine whether or not it was “incorrect.” But he added that, “of course you give it to the FBI or report it.”

Gov. Wolf Says He’ll Fight Republicans For Program That Benefits The Poor

MOUNT WOLF, Pa. (AP) — Gov. Tom Wolf is telling demonstrators that he’ll fight Republican resistance to a Depression-era program in his budget proposal that provides a $200-a-month cash benefit for the poor who are disabled or otherwise unable to work. Wolf, a Democrat, spoke with demonstrators from the Poor People’s Campaign who showed up at his Mount Wolf home Thursday afternoon. Demonstrators urged him to veto any spending package from the Republican-controlled Legislature that eliminates it.

Two Teens Killed By Lightning Strike In Westmoreland County

KECKSBURG, Pa. (AP) — Authorities say two teens are dead from a lightning strike in a Westmoreland County park. County Coroner Kenneth Bacha said a man and woman died Thursday afternoon at Mammoth Park near Kecksburg. He says bystanders started CPR, followed by park police, but they were unable to revive the victims. Strong thunderstorms moved through around 4 p.m., bringing a cluster of lightning strikes to the area around the park.

Ellwood City Man Convicted On Drug Charges

An Ellwood City man was convicted on drug charges in Federal Court in Pittsburgh yesterday. After two hours of deliberation the jury found 33 year old Taureen Potter guilty of one count of Conspiracy to Distribute Cocaine and one count of Distribution of Cocaine. U.S .Attorney Scott Brady said Potter sold cocaine out of Ellwood City bars in 2017 and 2018, and he sold cocaine to other cocaine dealers who would further distribute the cocaine. Sentencing is set for October 31st and Potter could receive 60 years in jail. The Lawrence County Drug Task Force was involved in the investigation.

Butler Man Caught Driving Drunk Twice In One Day

A Butler man is facing charges after being accused of driving drunk twice in one day. Jonathan Dillingham was pulled over early June 1st on the 200-block of Broad Street and was twice the legal limit, according to police. Later in the day, Dillingham was stopped by police on North Main Street reportedly three-times the legal limit and also in possession of marijuana and crack cocaine. Dillingham’s preliminary hearings are set for July 8th.

Highway Fatalities On The Increase In PA

HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) — The number of people killed on Pennsylvania’s roads rose in 2018, fueled by increases in the deaths of senior citizens and pedestrians. Figures released Thursday show there were 1,190 traffic deaths in the state last year. That’s up nearly 5% from the 1,137 deaths in 2017. There was a 34% increase in pedestrian deaths and fatal crashes involving senior citizens rose from 124 to 188. PennDOT says fatal crashes involving drivers who were 16 or 17 years of age were at a new low of 26 in 2018.

PA Man Who Admitted To Sexually Abusing Children Seeks To Keep His Name From Being Made Public

HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) — A Pennsylvania man who admitted to victimizing 16 to 18 people is seeking to keep his name and any other identifying information from being made public. The man made the admission to a grand jury investigating child sex abuse in 2018. But a judge said he could not be charged because the cases were too old. The same judge also said, though, that the grand jury’s report could be made public. The man is appealing that decision.

Are Nurses Qualified To Practice Independently Of Physicians? Some PA Senators Think So

Pennsylvania’s Senate is advancing legislation that backers say will help make health care more available through nurses, and less expensive. The Senate voted 44-6 on Wednesday to allow certified nurse practitioners to practice independently of physicians. The Pennsylvania Medical Society opposes the bill. Similar legislation has passed the Senate twice previously before dying in the House of Representatives.
