Philly’s New Street Sweeping Program Hits A Road Bump
PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Philadelphia’s new street sweeping program has hit a road bump: The trucks are too wide to fit down some of the city’s narrow, colonial-era streets. WHYY reports that the 10 new street sweeping trucks can’t fit down 10% of streets in the pilot neighborhoods. The trucks are each 9 feet wide. Streets Department Commissioner Carlton Williams says the city is considering buying slimmer trucks.

New Coach For Central Catholic High School’s Boys Basketball Team Could Be Suspended
The new coach for Central Catholic High School’s boys basketball team could be suspended before he even gets a chance to do his job. A hearing was scheduled to begin this morning for coach Brian Urso. He’s accused of asking eighth-graders to attend workouts, an action which WPIAL and PIAA could consider recruiting. He’s also accused of being the Central Catholic coach while still representing himself as the director of basketball administration at Robert Morris, a conflict of interest which could be in violation of NCAA rules. Urso faces a one-year suspension.

Republican State Representative Introduces Bill That Would Require All Pennsylvanians To Show I-D To Vote
A Republican state Representative is introducing legislation requiring all Pennsylvanians to present some form of I-D when they vote in every election. Representative Jeff Wheeland says House Bill 15-79 would allow for photo and non-photo options, like a current utility bill or bank statement. Voters who couldn’t produce a valid photo I-D would need two forms of non-photo I-D under this measure.
Retired Teacher Sues Diocese, Claims Priest Delivering Christmas Cards Raped Her While Watching Steelers’ Game
A retired teacher from Ross Township has filed a civil lawsuit against the Pittsburgh Catholic Diocese and former priest, Fr. Cyprian Duru, claiming she was raped by him in December of 2016. At the time, Kathy Coll was 65 and says the attack occurred when the priest came by to deliver a Christmas card while she was watching a Pittsburgh Steelers’ football game. She says she was assaulted and raped in the basement of the home where she had gone to a refrigerator to get something to drink.
VP Mike Pence Comes To Pennsylvania Today
YORK, Pa. (AP) — Vice President Mike Pence is dropping in on the presidential battleground state of Pennsylvania to tour a robotics maker and headline a state Republican Party fundraiser dinner.
Pence’s Thursday visit comes as President Donald Trump’s campaign is ramping up its re-election effort in a state where he scored a surprise 2016 win and delivered a crushing loss to Democrat Hillary Clinton. He’s expected to tout the Trump administration’s record in his first visit this year.
In the afternoon, Pence will tour York-based JLS Automation. Afterward, he’ll head to suburban Harrisburg to speak to a state party dinner crowd.
Trump became the first Republican to win Pennsylvania since 1988.
Since then, Republicans have suffered a string of high-profile election losses in Pennsylvania, raising questions about whether Trump can win the state again.
Sharon Murder Suspect Found On Snapchat
Sharon police say Snapchat helped them find a murder suspect. Alexis Holmes was arrested yesterday in Ohio on criminal homicide and other charges. Detectives say Holmes disappeared after she planned the robbery that ended with Khalil Hopson’s death last month. She emerged on Snapchat days later while on vacation.
