WILLOW GROVE, Pa. (AP) — A suburban Philadelphia couple has been convicted of murder in the death of a 4-year-old who was beaten for spilling his breakfast cereal. A jury returned the verdict Thursday night against the boy’s mother, Lisa Smith, and her boyfriend, Keiff King. The Abington couple also was convicted of child endangerment and conspiracy to commit aggravated assault. Montgomery County prosecutors say an autopsy showed Tahjir Smith’s January 2018 death was the result of a violent, sustained beating.

Biden Not Apologizing for Remarks on Segregationist Senators
UNDATED (AP) — Joe Biden says his comments about working successfully with segregationist senators in the past were meant to argue that leaders sometimes have to work with people they disagree with to get things done. Several Democratic presidential rivals have criticized him over the remarks. Kamala Harris says the former vice president is “coddling” segregationists in a way that she believes suggests he doesn’t understand the nation’s history. Biden points to his record on civil rights in his defense.

The videos will be provided to more than 1.2 million Cub Scouts across the U.S. The aim is to teach children how to recognize abusive behavior and what to do if confronted by it. The initiative comes as the Boy Scouts face a potentially huge wave of abuse-related lawsuits. Given the financial threat, the Boy Scouts have not ruled out seeking bankruptcy protection.
Poll: Most Americans Aren’t Keen on Returning to Moon or Going To Mars
CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. (AP) — Americans prefer a space program that focuses on tracking potential asteroid threats to Earth. That’s according to a poll released Thursday by The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research, one month before the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing. The results come as the White House pushes to return astronauts to the moon. But only about a quarter of Americans said exploration of the moon or Mars by astronauts should be among the country’s highest priorities.

Domino’s To Start Delivering Pizzas Via Autonomous Robot This Fall
ANN ARBOR, Mich. (AP) — The human delivery driver may soon become a relic of the past. Domino’s plans to start delivering pizzas via an autonomous robot in Houston. The world’s biggest pizza company is teaming up with robotics company Nuro. How will this high tech pizza delivery service work? Well, once Domino’s customers in Houston place their order, they can track their driverless vehicle via the Domino’s app. Once the vehicle arrives at the delivery location, customers will be able to use a PIN code provided by Domino’s to unlock the vehicle’s compartment and retrieve their pizza. Nuro has already been using electric self-driving vehicles to deliver groceries to Kroger customers in Phoenix and Houston. These vehicles, by the way, have half the width and half the weight of a typical car…lack seats, steering wheels or room for human occupants…and can reach 25 miles per hour on major roadways.
