Pittsburgh Man Lies To Purchase Gun
A Pittsburgh man is being charged after lying on a gun-purchase form, hiding his criminal record. Percy Ford is charged with making a false statement during the sale or transfer of firearms as well as unsworn falsification to authorities. State police say Ford tried to by a pistol from a shop in Hanover Township, and signed forms saying he was not prohibited from purchasing a firearm, and also checked a box saying he had never been convicted of a felony, when, in fact, he had. Ford is now awaiting a preliminary hearing scheduled for Monday, in Beaver County Court.

Omar says Trump is ‘Fascist’
WASHINGTON (AP) — Rep. Ilhan Omar, the Somali-born congresswoman and target of “send her back” chants at President Donald Trump’s campaign rally, says he is “fascist.” The Minnesota Democrat made the remark to reporters Thursday, a day after Trump accused her and other progressive Democratic lawmakers of color of disliking the U.S. During his Wednesday night rally, Trump slowly surveyed the crowd but did nothing to stop the “send her back” chants after his remarks about Omar.
Boy, 11, Uses ‘Ice Cold Beer’ Sign to Sell Soda with ‘Ingenious’
Not much is more refreshing on a hot summer’s day than a cold glass of lemonade — except maybe an ice cold beer. One Utah boy put a “twist” on the classic summer lemonade stand, offering up “ice cold beer” to his neighbors, many of whom actually called the cops on the budding entrepreneur, considering he’s still 10 years away from being legally allowed to drink the beverage. When Brigham City police arrived at the “beer” stand, however, they found out the catch: the 11-year-old was selling root beer — he just wrote the word “root” on his sign really, really small. The marketing ploy paid off, as police said the young man’s business has been booming, and the officers that stopped by even bought a couple “beers,” finding his idea “ingenious.”
Merriam-Webster: ‘Racism’ Top-Searched Term Wednesday Night
Merriam-Webster said “racism” was the top-searched term last night during and after a rally President Donald Trump held in Greenville, North Carolina. The print and online dictionary tweeted, “Tonight’s top searches, in order: racism, socialism, fascism, concentration camp, xenophobia, bigot”. Trump has come under intense fire from Democrats and Republicans over his tweets last weekend that are being called racist toward four freshmen Democratic members of Congress. Many have denounced the comments, while Trump says they were not meant to be racist. Trump’s controversial tweets included a line that suggested the four Democrats should “go back” to their countries of heritage, fix the problems there, and then return to the U.S.
Jon Stewart Rips Rand Paul for Blocking 9/11 Victim Compensation Bill
Former Daily Show host Jon Stewart on Wednesday ripped Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., after he blocked a measure providing compensation to 9/11 workers, saying the price tag was too high. A furious Stewart told Bret Baier during an appearance on Fox News. “What Rand Paul did today on the floor of the Senate was outrageous.” Paul said he would offer an amendment on the cost of the bill, titled the Never Forget the Heroes Act, when it reaches the Senate floor. Stewart last month spoke before the House Judiciary Committee on reauthorizing the September 11 Victim Compensation Fund.He said Paul’s reasoning wasn’t good enough.
Deemed Dangerous, Epstein Denied Bail in Sex Abuse Case
NEW YORK (AP) — A federal judge has denied bail for jailed financier Jeffrey Epstein on sex trafficking charges involving underage girls. The judge’s decision Thursday comes after prosecutors argued Epstein should remain behind bars in New York City because he has the means to flee and is a danger to the public. Lawyers for the 66-year-old Epstein say he wouldn’t run and would be willing to pledge a fortune of at least $559 million as collateral.
