President Donald Trump Heads to Pittsburgh Today to Show Support for Natural Gas Industry

EXTON, Pa. (AP) — President Donald Trump is headed to Pittsburgh today to show his support for the natural gas industry, making clear he sees his pro-industry policies as a boost to his chances of winning the battleground state. As some of his Democratic opponents call for a fracking ban, Trump has been eager to tout his support for a sector he says brings economic benefits and jobs. But in the suburbs that might be key to victory, Pennsylvania voters have shown a growing opposition to fracking.

Challenge to Victims’ Rights Constitutional Amendment to be Subject of Court Hearing

HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) — A challenge to a victims’ rights constitutional amendment going before voters in two weeks will be the subject of a court hearing. A Commonwealth Court judge plans to meet with lawyers before the Wednesday hearing in Harrisburg. The Marsy’s Law amendment would put into the state constitution the right of victims to be notified about, attend and weigh in during plea hearings, sentencings and parole proceedings.

Koppel Bridge to Officially Open This Afternoon

The new Koppel Bridge officially opens for motorists this afternoon. The route has been closed for nearly three months while crews completed the demolition of the old bridge and connected Route 351 over the Beaver River to the new bridge. PennDOT will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony on the Koppel borough side of the bridge at 1:00 this afternoon. “Shop” For A New Career Tomorrow At The Beaver valley Mall.

(Center township)  One of the area’s largest job and career fairs will take place tomorrow in the Beaver Valley Mall along the corridor in front of PA Career Link.  The event is organized by PA Career Link and sponsored by CCBC , WQED and Job Training for Beaver County.  Dozens of recruiters in all types of fields will be on site from ten until two with information, applications and immediate employment hiring opportunities.  Visitors to the Beaver Valley Mall on Thursday  will be able to shop for new careers as well as new merchandise.

Black Caucus Denounces Trump ‘Lynching’ Tweet

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Congressional Black Caucus is condemning President Donald Trump’s comparison of impeachment to lynching. Democratic Rep. Karen Bass of California, the group’s chairwoman, called lynching “a horrific stain on our country’s history” and said Trump’s tweet Tuesday inaccurately compared a constitutional process of investigation to “the systematic brutal torture and murder of thousands of African Americans in this country.
