Trump Criticizes Climate Activist Greta Thunberg After ‘Time Magazine’ Honor

President Donald Trump says it’s “ridiculous” that Time named climate activist Greta Thunberg as its Person of the Year. He’s taking aim at the 16-year-old Swede in a tweet. He says she “must work on her Anger Management problem, then go to a good old fashioned movie with a friend!” And he advises, “Chill Greta, Chill!” In response, Thunberg has changed her Twitter profile biography. It now describers her as “A teenager working on her anger management problem. Currently chilling and watching a good old fashioned movie with a friend.” She’s become the face of a new generation of environmental activists, drawing large crowds at protests and conferences.

Eliazabeth Warren Slams Moderate Rivals, Laying Bare Ideological Divide

MANCHESTER, N.H. (AP) — Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren Elizabeth Warren is lashing out at her moderate Democratic rivals seeking the White House. She says they naively accept Republican calls for unity instead of standing up to the rich and too quickly bend to the whims of their own wealthy donors. Warren didn’t name-drop former Vice President Joe Biden or South Bend, Indiana, Mayor Pete Buttigieg in her comments Thursday, but she was clearly taking aim at them. Her strong criticism suggests that long-simmering tensions between the party’s centrist and progressives wings are boiling over.

UPDATE: House Votes, Senate Trial: What’s Next in Impeachment

WASHINGTON (AP) — The House Judiciary Committee is arguing through a marathon session ahead of voting to send impeachment charges against President Donald Trump to the full House. It’s the latest big step as the politically split Congress debates whether to remove Trump from office. The Judiciary panel debated for nearly three hours Thursday before rejecting a Republican amendment to simply delete the first of two articles of impeachment. That vote was 23-17, along party lines, and later votes were expected to be the same. Democrats called Trump’s actions a “constitutional crime spree.” Republicans decried what they called the “hot garbage’’ impeachment.

Police Kill Pit Bull After Poodle Attacked

PITTSBURGH (AP) — Pittsburgh police shot and killed a pit bull after it charged at an officer following a fight with a poodle. Officers found a woman caring for her poodle, which was covered in blood, when they responded to a report of dogs fighting Wednesday. Police say the pit bull’s owner told them he had stabbed his pet and used pepper spray to get it to release the poodle. When the wounded pit bull lunged at police, an officer shot it to death. The poodle was taken to a veterinarian.
