WASHINGTON (AP) — A strong majority, 74%, of U.S. business economists appear sufficiently concerned about the risks of some of President Donald Trump’s economic policies that they expect a recession in the U.S. by the end of 2021. The economists surveyed by the National Association for Business Economics, in a report released Monday, mostly didn’t share Trump’s optimistic outlook for the economy, though they generally saw recession coming later than they did in a survey taken in February.

Early Epstein Accuser: Police Could Have Stopped Him in 1997
SANTA MONICA, Calif. (AP) — One of Jeffrey Epstein’s first known accusers says police didn’t take her complaint seriously in 1997 and blew an early chance to bring the financier to justice. Alicia Arden says she never heard back from Santa Monica, California, police after accusing Epstein of groping her during what she thought was an interview for the Victoria’s Secret catalog. Police say the case was dropped after Epstein gave a conflicting statement and Arden asked not to press charges. She strongly denies that.
Creepy Dolls Keep Appearing in Random Places in Two Missouri Cities
Some think it’s funny, others think it’s just downright creepy. Dolls are popping up in Jefferson County Missouri, yet no one seems to know why. All the dolls look similar – very realistic…it looks like a little girl, no face on it…and the hands are sewn to the face. People living in this community say it’s not only the dolls that are creepy, but it’s where they’re placed that’s strange….laying in front of buildings and hanging on top of stop signs. The police chief there says they don’t know where the dolls are coming from, or who is putting them there. Authorities say it appears to be a joke, but they’re worried that someone is going to get hurt.
Penn Med Drops Judgment Against Ellwood City Medical Center
Penn Med is withdrawing a five-point-two-three-million-dollar judgment against Ellwood City Medical Center. The two sides reached a partial settlement of the debt, which dates back to a four-and-a-half million dollar loan taken out in October 2017. The discontinue document does allow Penn Med to refile should something change in negotiations.
West Nile Virus Found in Mosquitoes Tested in Beaver County
West Nile season is well underway in Pennsylvania and the virus is now showing up in some local counties. Mosquitoes tested positive in Beaver, Allegheny, Lawrence and Greene counties. So far, there are no human cases in the state. Mosquitoes thrive in warm and humid weather. Several counties – including Beaver County – are working to eliminate the bugs through spraying.
Juvenile Accused of Calling PA Walmart, Threatening to ‘Shoot Up the Store’
WILKES-BARRE, Pa. (AP) — Authorities say charges are planned against a juvenile accused of calling a Walmart in northeastern Pennsylvania and threatening to “shoot up the store.” Police in Wilkes-Barre Township say the call reported Saturday was traced to a juvenile in Hanover Township. They say search warrants are pending and charges are planned pending approval of the Luzerne County district attorney’s office. Police said a terroristic threats and disorderly conduct investigation was opened.
Youngstown Man Scheduled to Face Judge Today For Making Threats Against Jews
A Youngstown-area man is scheduled to face a judge today, accused of making threats against the Jewish community. FBI agents say James Reardon posted a video in which he identified himself as the gunman at a local synagogue, even though the shooting never took place. Reardon is charged with telecommunications harassment and aggravated menacing.
Woman Crashes Car Into Perkins Restaurant in New Castle
One woman was taken to the hospital after she crashed her vehicle into a Perkins Restaurant in New Castle yesterday afternoon. According to police, the crash took place just before four o’clock. No one in the restaurant was hurt. The woman driver was taken to UPMC Jameson for treatment.
Two Pittsburgh Police Officers Injured After Crowds Flood the City’s South Side
PITTSBURGH (AP) — Police say two Pittsburgh officers were injured and two men were arrested after what they call “large and unruly” crowds flooded into the street on the city’s South Side. The city’s public safety department says officers were called to the area just before 2:15 a.m. Sunday, where people had filled the street, stopping traffic in both directions. An officer’s foot was run over as he was writing a traffic citation. Another officer injured his knee.
Street Fight in Bethel Park Ends With Man Being Shot in Leg
BETHEL PARK, Pa. (AP) — A street fight in western Pennsylvania ended with a man being shot in the leg. Bethel Park police responded to Wallace Avenue around 8:20 p.m. Sunday following reports of two men fighting and shots being fired. They soon found the wounded man and took him to a hospital. The man’s wound is not considered life-threatening. But his name and further details on his condition were not disclosed. The other man wasn’t injured. The fight and shooting remain under investigation.
