Senator Doug Mastriano wants to make September 12th as the “day of the Bible” to recognize the influence of the Bible on the culture of Pennsylvania and America

(Franklin County, PA) According to Senator Doug Mastriano, he wants to make a day where one can “recognize the Bible’s longstanding influence on American and Pennsylvania culture, morality and civic life.” Mastriano is recently planning a resolution for designation of September 12th as the “day of the Bible.” That date is when the Aitken Bible was approved for publication in 1782 at a U.S. Congress meeting in Philadelphia as the first complete Bible printed in the United States.

Cascade Road in Monaca is closed due to a tree that fell on a power line

(Monaca, PA) A road in Monaca is now closed because of a tree that fell down on a power line. According to a Facebook post on Tuesday afternoon from the borough of Monaca, Cascade Road is closed. There is no time frame as to when the road will reopen.

Congressman Chris Deluzio starts “Western Pennsylvania Manufacturing Week” to highlight jobs in Western Pennsylvania and go over his work to help industrial policy

(Carnegie, PA) According to a release from Congressman Chris Deluzio’s office, Deluzio is kicking off “Western Pennsylvania Manufacturing Week” this week. Deluzio will be traveling across the 17th Congressional District and will have meetings with stakeholders which show the manufacturing to security and national economy. Deluzio will also go over some of his work in Washington to help industrial policy to make opportunities and jobs in Western Pennsylvania.

Aliquippa Police seeking two female suspects who were involved in a robbery of the Dollar General in Aliquippa

(Aliquippa, PA) The Dollar General store in Aliquippa was recently robbed and the two suspects are being sought by Aliquippa Police. Two female suspects were spotted on the video camera of the store. Local fireworks shows that are ready to launch

(Beaver County, PA) Fireworks shows around Beaver County and around Pennsylvania are getting ready to launch. This is headlined by the upcoming Beaver County Boom in Bridgewater on Saturday, June 28th. This show will also feature the Zambelli Fireworks show, Cosmic Connections, which won Festival Grand Champion in 2024 at an international fireworks competition in Canada. According to the Beaver County Times, here is some information about local fireworks shows in Beaver County and one in Pittsburgh.

Beaver County Boom!

Location: Boom on the Bridge in downtown Bridgewater

Date and Time: Saturday, June 28th beginning at 3 p.m. and fireworks starting at 9:45 p.m.

Information: Visitors can enjoy food, live music, local vendors, professional wrestling matches from 880 Wrestling, and the Zambelli fireworks show, “Cosmic Connections.”

Ambridge Fireworks Show

Location: Walter Panek Park in Ambridge

Date and Time: Saturday, July 5th at 5 p.m., fireworks stsrting at 9:40 p.m.

Information: Ambridge will have a variety of vendors, live music, and kids’ activities at its fireworks pre-show. Parking areas are near the Ambridge Regional Center and the Waste Management Building and a shuttle from Frye Transportation will stop at the latter. Ellwood City Arts, Crafts, Food & Entertainment Festival

Location: Ellwood City with the fireworks show at Helling Stadium in Ellwood City

Date and Time: Friday, July 4th through Sunday, July 6th with fireworks launching July 6th at 10 p.m.

Information: This festival will bring the community together for various entertainment and craft-buying opportunities.

Hopewell Township Park Fest Community Day

Location: Hopewell Township

Date and Time: Saturday, July 12th from 3:30-9:30 P.M.

Information: This is Hopewell Township’s largest annual celebration. Throughout the day, visitors can enjoy live music, food trucks and community activities. Dusk on Saturday, July 12th will be when the fireworks are planned to launch.

Independence Township Fireworks Show

Location: Leopold Lake Park in Imperial, Pennsylvania

Date and Time: Friday, July 4th starting at 5 p.m.

Information: There will be music, food, airbrush tattoos and giveaways. Parking is prohibited along Route 30, so shuttles will run from the Activity Center at 310 Main Street, and the Pittsburgh International Commerce Park will accommodate the crowds. According to event organizers, fireworks will begin at 9:45 p.m. and shuttle service will be available after the display. Visitors are asked to leave their pets at home.

Moon Township Fireworks Celebration

Location: Brewer Airport Toyota in Moon Township

Date and Time: Friday, July 4th at 4 p.m. with fireworks launching at 10 p.m.

Information: Visitors can expect food vendors, a petting zoo, inflatables and live music. Families are reminded to leave their pets at home.

Pittsburgh Fireworks Show

Location: North Shore Great Lawn in Pittsburgh

Date and Time: Friday, July 4th at 4 p.m. with the fireworks launching at 9:35 p.m.

Information: The celebration will  feature nonstop musical entertainment on two stages. A food truck corral and family-friendly games will also be available throughout the celebration. The fireworks last around 25 minutes. KDKA Radio (100.1 FM) will broadcast a soundtrack throughout the display, and for those unable to make it to the city, fireworks will also be streamed live on WPXI.

(Harrisburg, PA) The “Let Freedom Ring” license plates to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the United States in Pennsylvania are available now to order. Pennsylvania was the place where American democracy was first seen, and the plates feature the iconic Liberty Bell seen in Philadelphia. Center Township supervisors approve zoning change as well as both approve and hand out payments in a recent public hearing

(Center Township, PA) The Center Township supervisors held a public hearing Monday night and approved a zoning change. The change was from C-2 Commercial to C-4 Mixed use and was requested by Charles Betters, who will be building eighty-eight townhouses across from the AHN Cancer Center on Wagner Road. The supervisors also approved a final payment of $20,614 to Preferred Plumbing and Heating Solutions. The final payment for the project for paving was paid in the amount of $475,338.54 to Youngblood Paving for the municipal building. The Paving of the Center Grange sidewalk walking trail had a partial payment of $15,577.30, which was also paid to Wright Asphalt and Concrete, LLC. The next meeting for the Center Township supervisors is on Monday, July 21st, 2025 at 7 p.m.

AAA East Central’s gas price report states that gas prices rise sixteen cents this week in Western Pennsylvania

(Pittsburgh, PA) Gas prices are sixteen cents higher in Western Pennsylvania this week at about $3.49 per gallon, according to AAA East Central’s Gas Price Report. The report states that at this time a year ago, the average price for a gallon of gas in Western Pennsylvania was around $3.80. The report also notes that the average price that you can expect for a gallon of unleaded gas here in Beaver County is about $3.51. According to a release from AAA East Central, here are the average prices of unleaded self-serve gasoline in various Pennsylvania areas:

Cleveland, Ohio block party shooting injures five people and kills one person

(Cleveland, OH) A shooting occurred in Cleveland, Ohio on Monday morning during a block party which injured five people and killed one person. According to a report from CBS affiliate WOIO, police said 80 shots were fired by multiple shooters during the party on Luther Avenue after midnight. WOIO also confirmed it was not known immediately if there were any suspects involved in this incident and that there were not any arrests made yet.
