(Beaver Falls, Pa.) The WPIAL approved its conference realignment plan that was created by input from the schools and has now released it to the public. Beaver County Radio Sports Director and play by play man Bob Barrickman joined Frank Sparks on Teleforum Tuesday January 21, 20120 to talk about the changes that are coming.
A big part of the discussion centered around the fair play rule that made it so Aliquippa is forced to move up to Class 4A Section 1 when in fact they are only a Class A school. Barrickman told the listeners that the Quips are appealing the ruling.
Barrrickman and Sparks discussed the major take aways from the new alignment which are Class 4A is bigger with 22 teams compared to just 16 last year, Non-conference games will be played at the beginning of the season, The competition will be better compared to the last few years, and teams are now in geographically friendly sections based on their location making for less travel and expense for the schools.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Hillary Clinton says “nobody likes” her former presidential rival Bernie Sanders, even as the Vermont senator remains among the front-runners in the 2020 Democratic race. In an interviewed posted Tuesday with “The Hollywood Reporter,” Clinton was asked about a comment she makes in an upcoming documentary where she says Sanders was “in Congress for years” but, “Nobody likes him, nobody wants to work with him, he got nothing done.” Clinton replied that the criticism still holds and refused to say she’d endorse him this cycle if he wins the party’s nomination. Sanders campaign said it had no comment. Clinton’s sentiments may only energize Sanders loyalists who believed the Democratic establishment rigged the 2016 primary in her favor.
WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump’s impeachment trial quickly burst into a partisan fight Tuesday as proceedings began unfolding at the Capitol. Democrats objected strongly to rules proposed by the Republican leader for compressed arguments and a speedy trial. Even before Chief Justice John Roberts gaveled in the session, Democrats warned that the rules package from Trump’s ally, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, could force midnight sessions that would keep most Americans in the dark and create a sham proceeding. Trump said anew that the whole thing was a hoax, and he said he was sure it would “work out fine.”
WASHINGTON (AP) — The Supreme Court is refusing to consider a fast-track review of a lawsuit that threatens the Obama-era health care law. That makes it highly unlikely that the justices would decide the case before the 2020 election. The court on Tuesday denied a request by 20 mainly Democratic states and the Democratic-led House of Representatives to decide quickly on a lower-court ruling that declared part of the statute unconstitutional and cast a cloud over the rest. Defenders of the Affordable Care Act argued that litigation should not drag on for months or years in lower courts.
PHOENIX (AP) — Authorities say a Phoenix woman has been arrested on suspicion of killing her three children. They were found dead inside the family home on Monday. Police say the 22-year-old mother, whose name has not been released, admitted to harming her three children. She was in the process Tuesday morning of being booked on three counts of first-degree murder. It was not known if she has an attorney. A relative who lives at the residence called police and officers found a 7-month-old girl, 2-year-old girl and 3-year-old boy. The children were pronounced dead after officers administered CPR and fire officials provided first aid.
WASHINGTON (AP) — Elizabeth Warren says she’ll create a federal task force to investigate corruption during the Trump administration if she’s elected president. The Massachusetts senator on Tuesday released a plan that her campaign says will “restore integrity and competence” to government after President Donald Trump. Warren says the task force would be within the Justice Department and would hold the previous administration’s officials “accountable for illegal activity.” All top Democratic presidential hopefuls have decried corruption in the Trump administration. Warren’s proposal seeks to provide a blueprint for how to roll back Trump’s influence. Trump campaigned on a promise to “drain the swamp“ and claims he’s been successful in doing so.
