Pittsburgh Ranked as One of Cloudiest Cities in America
Pittsburgh is one of the cloudiest cities in America. That’s according to the website Current-Results-dot-com, which analyzed cloud cover stats from the National Climatic Data Center to make its list. Pittsburgh ranked fourth, with just over 200 days out of the year with heavy cloud cover. Buffalo, New York, ranked third, followed by Portland, Oregon, and Seattle, Washington.
Uniontown Man Suing Penn State, Claiming Job Offer Was Rescinded Because He’s Colorblind
A Uniontown man is suing Penn State over claims that the university rescinded a job offer after learning he was colorblind. Danny David said he applied to become a campus police officer after spending more than 20 years as a public safety officer at Penn State-Fayette. According to the suit, when a required medical exam discovered David was colorblind, the university rescinded the offer. He is suing for damages and the reinstatement of the job offer. In response to the lawsuit, Penn State said the deficiency would pose a threat to the health and safety of the university.
Pittsburgh Woman is Quarantined After Returning from Trip to China
Authorities say a Pittsburgh woman has been quarantined after returning from a trip to China. Pat Premick is unable to leave her home for two weeks. Premick says she is shocked that she is being isolated, saying she has no symptoms and was not in Wuhan, the epicenter of the coronavirus outbreak.
Lawrence County Man Admits to Distributing Crack Cocaine
A Lawrence County man has admitted to distributing crack cocaine in the area. Federal authorities in Pittsburgh say 24 year old DeLaughn Searcy formerly of New Castle pleaded guilty to one count of distribution of 28 grams of crack cocaine. Sentencing has been set for June 3rd. Searcy could get up to 40 years in prison, a five million dollar fine or both. The Lawrence County Drug Task Force was involved in the investigation.
Beaver Falls Man Pleads Guilty to Drug Charges
A resident of Beaver Falls, has pleaded guilty in federal court in Pittsburgh on charges of violating federal firearms and narcotics laws. 41 year old Eliezer Rodriguez, pleaded guilty to two counts in U.S. District Court in Pittsburgh. The incident took place in October of 2018. The law provides for a maximum total sentence of not less than five years and up to life in prison, a fine of not more than $1,250,000, or both. Rodriguez will be sentenced in June.
Freedom Man Sentenced to Prison for Child Porn Possession
A Freedom man was sentenced to five years in prison for possessing child pornography. 25-year-old Adam Hosie was also sentenced to five years of supervised release. According to authorities, Hosie possessed images and videos in computer graphic files, the production of which involved the use of minors engaging in sexually explicit conduct, some of whom had not yet attained 12 years of age. The incident took place in July of 2018.
