HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) — The Pennsylvania Lottery is reporting record highs in revenue and profits, after concerns that it was slumping spurred lawmakers to expand its offerings to the internet. The agency said Thursday it recorded $4.5 billion in sales in the 2018-19 fiscal year, an increase of 7%. Profits were $1.14 billion, an increase of 4.5%. It paid out $2.9 billion in prizes. The lottery’s profits go to services for the elderly.

THE CHIEF CLERK AT THE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OFFICE SAYS THAT A FAULTY WIRE IN ONE OF THE BUILDING’S FIRE DETECTORS IS TO BLAME AND IS IN THE PROCESS OF BEING REPAIRED. EVERYONE HAS BEEN ALLOWED BACK IN THE BUILDING AS OF NOONTIME AND THERE WERE NO REPORTED INJURIES.

The Republican Party booth at the Fayette County Fair is drawing criticism over their carnival games, County Republicans have taken down a fair booth dartboard pasted with pictures of the Squad amid public complaints. The dartboard was filled with taped-on pictures of first-term Democratic congresswoman, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York, Rashida Talib of Michigan, Ilhan Omar of Minnesota, and Ayanna Pressley of Massachusetts. The board sparked controversy Monday, after a fair attendee posted about the dartboard on Facebook, which led to complaints filed with the booth organizers and the fair. In a press release, the Pennsylvania Democratic Party said, “Members of the Fayette County Republican Party soled a family-friendly afternoon with a gross display of hate and intolerance targeting minority women. The GOP officials simulated violence against four Congresswomen of color by placing photos of their faces on a dartboard and encouraging passerby to throw darts at them, but county republicans denied that the dartboard had anything to do with race, or that it was violent.

Top contenders in the Democratic race for president, Joe Biden and Kamala Harris, came under fire from rivals during Wednesday night’s debate in Detroit. Biden defended so-called “Obamacare” and a public option for a “Medicare for All” overhaul. Harris’ support for that health care plan drew criticism from Michael Bennet as a vehicle for raising taxes on the middle class while Tulsi Gabbard chided Harris for jailing thousands over marijuana violations as a prosecutor.

The ideological divisions gripping the Democratic Party are intensifying as presidential candidates waged an acrimonious battle over health care, immigration and race. Former Vice President, Joe Biden, was repeatedly forced in Wednesday night’s debate to defend his decades-old political record against pointed attacks from his rivals. They said his eight-year relationship with President Barack Obama was not reason enough to earn the nomination.

HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) — Pennsylvanians who prefer not to be identified as male or female will soon have a gender-neutral option on their state-issued driver’s licenses. The Daily Item of Sunbury reported PennDOT expects to have the new procedure in place by the middle of next year. It will let motorists use “X” as a third option to indicate gender.

Work has resumed at the Shell Falcon Pipeline after a recent spill of 500 gallons of nontoxic fluid. Shell officials said the fluid was just a mix of water and clay. The Department of Environmental Protection said they don’t think there will be any impact from the spill.
