(Harrisburg, PA) According to a release from the Pennsylvania Department of Revenue, the deadline for 2024 tax returns is on April 15th, and the department is extending its customer service hours for taxpayers. The extension began on Tuesday and will continue today through Friday by calling 717-787-8201 from 8 A.M. to 7 P.M. You can also call the same number on Saturday, April 12th from 10 A.M. to 3 P.M. and from 8 A.M. to 7 P.M. on both Monday, April 14th and Tuesday, April 15th.

Woman from Aliquippa arrested for driving under the influence of drugs

(Aliquippa, PA) Pennsylvania State Police in Beaver report that a woman from Aliquippa was arrested for driving under the influence of drugs in Aliquippa on March 22nd, 2025. Police found an unidentified twenty-six-year-old woman after she committed a vehicle violation. According to police, thatwoman was driving under the influence of a controlled substance near Main Street and Maratta Road. Police also confirm that the charges against this woman are pending.

Man from Ambridge arrested for driving under the influence in Beaver County

(Beaver County, PA) Pennsylvania State Police in Beaver report that a man from Ambridge was arrested for driving under the influence in Beaver County on March 29th, 2025. According to police, an unidentified sixty-one-year-old man was driving under the influence of an alcoholic substance on a block of Constitution Boulevard. Police also confirm that the charges against this man are pending.

Center Theatre Players performing the Broadway musical “Bright Star” this week in Rochester

(Rochester, PA) The Center Theatre Players will present the Broadway musical “Bright Star” at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday through Saturday at the Sandy Reigel Theater in Rochester. The cast features mostly Beaver County natives and features the story of a Southern woman who tries to discover her past after she meets a soldier. R-ACT Theatre Productions will have free open house and volunteer fair for the public at the Segriff Stage in Rochester

The doors will open at 2:30 p.m. There will be two separate sessions, one at 3-4 p.m. and one at 4-5 p.m. The event includes a presentation about the company with both a tour and refreshments following. Route 588 24th Street Drilling Starts Wednesday in Beaver Falls

Pittsburgh, PA –PennDOT District 11 is announcing drilling operations on 24th Street (Route 588) in the City of Beaver Falls, Beaver County will begin Wednesday, April 9 weather permitting.

Lane restrictions will occur in on 24th Street between Church Street and 25th Street weekdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. through mid-April. Crews from ECS Mid-Atlantic, LLC will conduct drilling operations.

Motorists can check conditions on major roadways by visiting www.511PA.com. 511PA, which is free and available 24 hours a day, provides traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, traffic speed information and access to more than 1,000 traffic cameras. 511PA is also available through a smartphone application for iPhone and Android devices, by calling 5-1-1, or by following regional X alerts.

Beaver County Commissioners confirm Beaver County Broadband Program needs half of its progress to be complete

(Beaver County, PA) According to the Beaver County Commissioners, the halfway point has been reached for the Connect Beaver County broadband program. Since the program started to take place in September of 2023, Verizon put more than 256 miles of fiber-optic cable and over 900 houses received broadband service. According to officials, service was given to addresses from Aliquippa, Fombell and Hookstown, as well as ZIP codes in New Brighton.

(Pittsburgh, PA) Gas prices are seventeen cents higher in Western Pennsylvania this week at about $3.63 per gallon, according to AAA East Central’s gas price report. The report states that at this time last year, the average price for gas in Western Pennsylvania was about $3.84. The report also notes that the average price that you can expect for a gallon of unleaded gas here in Beaver County is about $3.64. According to AAA East Central’s gas price report, here are the average prices of unleaded self-serve gasoline in various Pennsylvania areas:

(Washington, D.C.) A new review was ordered by President Donald Trump on Monday from Nippon Steel of Japan and their bid to purchase U.S. Steel. The Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States will go over the deal again after an order from Trump. According to the memorandum, Trump wants a forty-five-day period for a recommendation from the CFIUS. The president discussed blocking the deal, however; if the deal is done, U.S. Steel could possibly move out of Pittsburgh.

Guatemala resident pleads guilty to charge of illegal re-entry of a removed alien and gets sentenced

(Pittsburgh, PA) According to an announcement from acting U.S. Attorney Troy Revetti, a Guatemala resident pleaded guilty to a charge of illegal re-entry of a removed alien. Forty-six-year-old Anastacio Hernandez-Us was sentenced on Friday for being in the United Sates illegally. Hernandez-Us was caught by immigration officials in Louisiana and was removed on September 23rd, 2010. According to Revetti, Hernandez-Us has been in custody since his February arrest and will remain detained pendinghis deportation from the United States.
