“I believe in life-long learning, because you never know enough.”

Those words came from Midland Innovation & Technology Charter School CEO Dr. Chester Thompson, who joined Matt Drzik on the July 15 edition of A.M. Beaver County to talk about the ever-nearing opening of MITCS. Classes are set to begin on September 6 (the day after Labor Day), and recent information sessions have been held at the newly built facilities on South 12th Street in Midland.

Despite the lights getting greener, Dr. Thompson says that there is still opportunities for students and teachers to become part of MITCS: “We’re continuously building out our staff, and we’re actually near completion of that…we continuously seek talented individuals who will be a good part of our culture, and the key thing is we want them to be excited.”

The next information session for the MITCS will take place at the school building on 12th Avenue in Midland on Thursday, July 21 at 6:30 PM. You can also check out their website for more information on available classes, social media links and upcoming events.

Beaver, Pa.) The San Rocco Foundation  alleges that they don’t have access to financial records or funds  that the San Rocco Cultural  Committee is in possession of, according to Attorney John Havey. An injunction hearing was held on Thursday morning in Judge  James J. Ross’s chambers at the Beaver County Courthouse.
Judge Ross ruled on at the hearing that the case should be moved to Beaver County Orphan’s Court with Court of Common Pleas Judge Dale Fouse. According to Attorney Havey, who is the legal council for the foundation, Pa Attorney General Josh Shapiro needs to be notified of the action and a Havey said that the injunction will be filed on Monday, July 18, 2022, with Judge Fouse.
The San Rocco Cultural Committee was formed in 1925 and  the 2 groups merged in 2018. Both groups are planning events in Center Township. Friday, August 13 to Sunday August 15, 2022  The traditional mass at St. Titus  Roman Catholic Church is on  Sunday morning , and the groups will parade through Sheffield Terrace separately.

(Pittsburgh, Pa.) An Aliquippa man who was wanted on multiple warrants led police in a pursuit on the Parkway West last night before crashing in downtown Pittsburgh.
Pennsylvania State Police said say that 43-year-old Lee Chavez, of Aliquippa, was speeding when the chase began after Troopers initially attempted to pull him over.
During the chase Chavez was speeding down the ramp on the Parkway and took a corner too hard, hopping the curb, nearly hitting a fire hydrant, and crashing and that’s where the car came to a stop on Fort Duquesne Boulevard.
After the crash, Chavez tried to run into the parking garage underneath Gateway Center and police were able to arrest him after tasering him.
State police say that Chavez did have prior charges including aggravated assault.
Thankfully no one was injured and Chavez was taken to jail.

The chase started because Chavez had expired registration.

(Center Twp., Beaver County, Pa.) Beaver County Radio News Correspondent Sandy Giordano is reporting that the Beaver County Unity Games will take place this tomorrow from 9 a.m. to noon at the baseball field on the campus of CCBC.
Shon Owens , one of the organizers , told Giordano that the event is a fun filled day to build and maintain community and law enforcement relationships throughout Beaver County. Youth in grades 8-12 along with police/first responders will compete in fun-filled field activities alongside each other for prizes.
Everyone is welcome to come out and support this annual event.
There is no admission, and there will be food and prizes

(Hopewell Twp., Beaver County, Pa.) Beaver County Radio News Correspondent Sandy Giordano is reporting that the Hopewell Police department reported that just after 6 p.m. last night a tree branch fell on a power line in Green Garden Plaza. the branch caused the line to spark and caused all the power , including cable service to go out in the area. Service was quickly restored, according to police.

(Aliquippa, Pa.) Pa State police are just releasing details that they are investigating after an incident took place two weeks ago where someone fired gunshots into the Aliquippa Police Department. There was a bullet lodged in a second-floor closet, another in a first-floor wall. There were also bullets in one of the Police Cruiser’s and a personal vehicle.
Troopers say no one was hurt in the incident.
