Clarification Given on Saturday’s Police Pursuit Incident

(Aliquippa, Pa.) Aliquippa Police Chief John Lane clarified on Monday morning after further investigation by Sandy Giordano about reports of a car chase that occurred on Saturday Afternoon. Chief Lane told Giordano that there was pursuit that took place after a traffic stop for an unauthorized vehicle. The incident occurred around 4 PM when the unnamed driver led police to a pursuit  through Aliquippa,  Hopewell ,and Monaca . The pursuit was called off in Ambridge  due to erratic driving by the suspect that would be putting the residents in danger, according to Chief Lane.

It was previously reported to Giordano by Aliquippa Sgt. Steve Roberts on Sunday night that there was no high speed chase on Route 51 on Saturday afternoon. Beaver County 9-1-1 told Giordano Sunday night that police were pursuing a vehicle in the area of the Aliquippa/Ambridge Bridge around 4 PM on Saturday and the action was terminated by Ambridge Police ended the pursuit that started originally in Aliquippa. Sgt. Roberts told Giordano that Ambridge Police felt it wasn’t safe to pursue the vehicle. After clarification from Chief Lane it was learned that the pursuit did in fact take place.

“Midland Music Mondays” Return Tonight With Live Music And Food Trucks

Returning this year to the borough of Midland is “Midland Music Mondays”, a series of concerts featuring local music groups at the Alumni Hall outdoor amphitheater on the campus of the Lincoln Park Performing Arts Charter School. Dr. Todd Graham–who is the Chief Academic Officer at Lincoln Park and the man behind the quote up top–joined Matt Drzik on the June 20 edition of A.M. Beaver County to talk about “Midland Music Mondays” on the morning of the first concert in the series.

Jukebox will be the first band performing on a Monday–June 20th–and Annie Lee’s Southern Kitchen will have their food truck open during the show. All concerts are free to the public and will have local food trucks on site, along with a 50/50 drawing during each show to benefit local organizations. The concerts will be held rain or shine; in case of rain the shows will be moved indoors to the Lincoln Park Performing Arts Center. Shows are presented in partnership with Lincoln Park and Beaver County Radio.

Pennsylvania Jobless Rate Fell, Labor Force Grew in May

HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) — Pennsylvania’s workforce grew again in May as the state’s unemployment rate sank to another post-pandemic low. New state figures released Friday show Pennsylvania’s unemployment rate dropped two-tenths of a percentage point to 4.6% from April’s rate. The national rate was 3.6% in May. In a survey of households, the labor force grew by 30,000. The state’s labor force is rebounding after falling during the COVID-19 pandemic. In a separate survey of employers, non-farm payrolls in Pennsylvania grew in May by almost 7,000. At just above 5.9 million, payrolls are at their highest point since hitting a record high of nearly 6.1 million just before the pandemic, according to state figures.

Bill Cosby Civil Trial Jury Must Start Deliberations Over

SANTA MONICA, Calif. (AP) — After two days of deliberations, jurors in a civil trial deciding on sexual abuse allegations against Bill Cosby will have to start from scratch on Monday. By the end of Friday, jurors had decided on nearly all questions put before them, including whether Cosby had sexually assaulted plaintiff Judy Huth at the Playboy Mansion in 1975 when she was 16. Los Angeles County Judge Craig Karlan, who had promised one juror she could depart after Friday, wanted to accept the partial verdict, but courthouse closure rules left him no choice but to close down. Jurors will begin again with an alternate.

Ambridge Police Looking to Hire New Officers

(Ambridge, Pa.) Ambridge Police Chief John DeLuca said the borough will be accepting applications  beginning on Monday, June 20, 2022,  for police officers through the borough’s Civil Service Commission. Applicants  can apply for police officer or school resource officer, according to Chief DeLuca. Applicants may obtain an application packet at the department from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Deadline  for applications is Friday, July 1, 2022 at 3 p.m. Testing fee for the police officer applicants is $50.

Ambridge New K-9 Officer, Ryker, is on the Job

(Ambridge, Pa.) Ambridge Police Department’s new k-9 is a German Shepherd, his name is Ryker. His handler is Officer Garrett Kimmell. He has been working with Ryker since 2015, and he was hired by Ambridge in 2021. He’s trained in drug detection  and searching/tracking,  weapon recovery and finding lost children. Ryker will visit the schools  for educational opportunities and demonstrations, according to a news release. Obtaining and training a dog  and purchasing and outfitting a vehicle  can cost in excess of $60,000. The department has several options  before moving forward , buy an older  department vehicle for $5,000, purchase a use k-9 vehicle from another department  for approximately $12,000.  The most expensive option is purchasing a new vehicle for  about $45,000. Steve Roberts reported to her last night that there was no high speed chase on Route 51 on Saturday afternoon. Pa State Police Looking for Publics Help After Hit and Run Accident on Rt. 30 In Greene Twp.

(Greene Twp., Beaver County , Pa.) Pa State Police in Beaver are reporting that they were called to the scene of a hit and run accident on route 30 Lincoln Highway in Greene Township Beaver County last Wednesday June 15, 2022 at 5:32 PM
Troopers said upon arriving and investigating it was learned that a hit and run crash occurred between Pittsburgh Road and Upper Service Road as an unnamed male driver was traveling east on US 30 when a vehicle that was traveling west bound crossed the double yellow lines and hit the man’s on the driver side of the front fender and rear driver side rim. The vehicle continued to travel west bound and fled the scene.
The hit and run vehicle is believed to be a red sport sedan that is possibly a foreign make . The vehicle should have heavy damage to the driver side front and side. Anyone with information is asked to call Pa State Police at the Beaver Barracks at 724-773-7400
