Banked Robbed In New Brighton

Police are investigating a robbery that took place today at the First National Bank in New Brighton. According to New Brighton police, the bank, located in the one-thousand block of Third Avenue, was robbed shortly before 9:30 this morning by a black man with a large build. They say his face was covered and he was armed with a gun. Surveillance video shows the suspect jumping over a counter to grab cash. No word yet on how much was taken. Police say the employees were shaken up, but no one was hurt. Beaver County Radio is working to learn more on this story. Stay tuned to 1230 WBVP and 1460 WMBA as this story develops.

Man Convicted Of Killing Pregnant Woman In Ambridge Granted New Trial

A man convicted of killing a pregnant woman in Ambridge in 2012 has been granted a new trial. Marlin Kelly was found guilty of the second-degree murder of 30-year-old Coco Finney and her unborn child, but he’ll get a second chance to prove he’s innocent after the Pennsylvania State Court vacated the judgment. A retrail could take place in the next four months, but the district attorney’s office has the option to appeal to the Supreme Court.

“Love Song Sing-A-Long” Contest To Air Friday

(Beaver County, PA)  Beaver County Radio will give listeners the chance to win great prizes and proclaim their love in song live on the airwaves this Friday February 12, 2016 in honor of Valentines Day.  Listeners will be invited to call in and sing along with popular love songs during A.M. Beaver County (6:30 to 9 A.M.)and Teleforum (9 A.M. – Noon) and be automatically entered into the “Love Song Sing-A-Long” contest which features prizes from Texas Roadhouse, Snyder’s Flowers, Wolfe’s Shows and Women’s Clothing and Rosalind Candy Castle.  Later on in the day , during Yankee Trader (1-2 P.M.),  a grand prize winner will selected and announced from all singer participants.

Geneva College Announces New President

A big announcement came from Geneva College today: 54-year-old Calvin Troup will take office on the Beaver Falls campus as Geneva’s 20th president this spring. Troup is a Geneva alum and is currently an associate professor in Duquesne’s Department of Communication and Rhetorical Studies, a campus where he has worked for two decades. Troup was introduced to the students, faculty and staff of the college during a brief ceremony this afternoon.
