Police Investigating McKeesport Shooting

An early morning shooting in Mckeesport has wounded a woman and a 4-year-old child. Police say someone fired several shots into the back of a home, with some of the shots going through the walls and hitting the victims. Both are expected to survive.

College Signing Date Is Almost Here

It’s rug cutting time for high school football player and college coaches. National signing day is tomorrow.  Players who have made verbal commitments make  it offical.  Of the 26 senior players in Beaver County,  six have yet to decide.  Former Riverside QB  Jason Danback will sign with Gannon an NCAA Divison II school.  Yet to make a commitment is former Central Valley QB Chris Callaghan.  He has Tifin,  Clariton, and Edinboro on his list.

Pitt Falls From The Poll

If you are looking for the Pitt Mens Basketball team In the USA Today-Coaches Poll, they are not there. Their lost to Clemson knocked them off the poll. The Panthers join fellow ACC team Duke.  The Blue Devils are 1-5 in their last six games.  Pitt faces #9 Virginia Saturday at Noon at the Peterson Event Center.

Penguins Begin Second Half

The Penguins ended their all star vacation on Monday.  They held practice at the Cranberry facility. Missing from the workout were the All Star participants Evgeni Malkin and Kris Letang were excused because of the game on Sunday. Left wing Chris Kunitz practiced and will be a game time decision. Kunitz was injured in the January 24th game against the Washington Capitols.  Penguins host the Ottawa Senators tonight at the Consol Energy Center.  Face off is shortly after 7pm.  WBVP-and-WMBA’s next broadcast game will be Saturday in Tampa Bay against the Lightning.

CBS and NBC To Share Thursday Night Football

Thursday night football will be on CBS and NBC next season.  The two networks has agreed to a two year contract. CBS and the NFL Network have broadcast the Thursday night game for the last two years. The NFL will telecast all 16 games in 2016.

Koppel Council Wants To Buy Historic Church To Get Ballfield

Koppel borough council is looking to buy a former church for its baseball field. Council president Tom Vannoy tells Beaver County Radio newsman Pat Septak that they are in the process of finalizing plans to buy the former Queen Of Heaven Catholic Church because of a nearby baseball field connected with the property. Vannoy says the diocese required them to buy the entire property in order to get the ball fields. He says the both the ball field and the building have a very rich history. Vannoy tells us that boro and police services also could be relocated to the church building but he says no decision on that will be made until the property is thoroughly examined.  He expects the purchase to be finalized within a month.

Federal Investigation Continues Into Amtrak Mishap

Amtrak is trying to figure out what mystery object hit a train in Philadelphia last night, leaving the train with a cracked window but not causing any injuries. The incident comes as federal investigators release information on their probe into last May’s derailment that killed 8 people in the city.
