Class Of 2016 Includes Two Former Steelers

Kevin Greene spent 15-years in the NFL  for the LA Rams, Carolina Panthers and, three seasons  and a Super Bowl with the Steelers. He was one of eight players elected to the Class of 2016 NFL’s Hall Of Fame.   Coach Tony Dungy  is also a member of the Class of 2016.  Dungy’s NFL career began as a safety  with the Steelers.  After retirement he coached the Steelers  defensive backs (81-83) and was defensive coordinator (84-88).  He was the head coach of the  Tampa Bay  Bucs and won a Super Bowl with Peyton Manning and the Indianapolis Colts.  Joining Greene and Dungy will be Marvin Harrison, Orlando Pace, Former 49er’s owner Eddie Debartolo Jr. , The late Kenny Stabler,  senior selection the late Dick Stanfel,  and on his first try Brett Favre. The induction will be held in early August.

 

 

 

 

NFL Airs Anti Domestic Violence Commercial

For the second year in  a row,  the NFL sponsored a Super Bowl Ad that focused ending domestic violence.  The NFL donated airtime for the spot from NO MORE, an advocacy that works to combat domestic violence and sexual assault.

Ambridge 73, Blackhawk 62 (Final)

The Blackhawk Cougars were eliminated from WPIAL playoff contention with a 73-62 loss to the Ambridge Bridgers on WMBA. Darius Lawrence led the way for the Bridgers with 33 points, sharing CCBC Players of The Game honors with Blackhawk’s Chance Siaus (20 pts).

The Cougars’ loss (along with Beaver’s loss on WBVP) allows Central Valley to gain the final playoff spot in Section 2-AAA, having earned a 3-1 record against Beaver and Blackhawk throughout the season.

Blackhawk finishes section play with a 6-8 record (10-11 overall), while Ambridge finishes at 8-6 (11-10 overall). Tom Hays has tonight’s recap for beavercountyradio.com.

Beaver Falls 78, Beaver 50 (Final)

Fueled by Josh Creach’s 33-pont performance, Beaver Falls wrapped up section play in 2-AAA with a 78-50 victory over Beaver tonight on WBVP. Darius Wise scored 32 for the Bobcats, he and Creach were named tonight’s CCBC Players of The Game. The loss end’s Beaver’s season at 6-8 in the section (9-12 overall), while the Tigers finish at 12-2 in 2-AAA (19-3 overall). Bob Barrickman has this recap for beavercountyradio.com.

Beaver County Commissioners Vote Unanimously To Adopt Revised 2016 Budget

The Beaver County Commissioners voted unanimously today to adopt a revised 2016 budget of 63 million dollars, down 14 million from the 77 million dollars budget adopted by the previous board of commissioners. According to Beaver County Radio’s Greg Benedetti, who attended this morning’s 20-minute special session, the budget shows a 5-point-three-million dollar deficit that budget administrator Ricardo Luckow said will be made up with cuts by the end of the year. The Commissioners will meet on Tuesday, February 16th for the final vote on the budget. The budget will be open for public review at the courthouse until then.

Wolf’s Budget Proposes Merging Some State Agencies To Save Money

Gov. Tom Wolf said today that the state budget he proposes Tuesday will include two mergers intended to save money and improve the service of related missions. Wolf will renew his call to merge the Department of Corrections and the Board of Probation and Parole into a single agency.  A bill to combine the two entities passed the Senate back in November. He also will propose moving the eHealth Partnership Authority, which was created to enable the secure exchange of electronic health information, into the Department of Human Services.
