The top seeded Cardinal Wuerl North Catholic Trojanettes flexed off the rust of a 13-day layoff with a resounding 44-point victory over the Aliquippa Lady Quips in the first round of the WPIAL AA Girls’ Playoffs.

Tonight’s CCBC Players of The Game were Sam Breen, who netted 29 points for the Trojanettes, and Alexus Perry, who came off the bench to score 8 for the Lady Quips.

Beaver County Sheriff Say Budget Cuts Could Impact Safety at Courthouse

Beaver County Sheriff Tony Guy continues to speak out on the devastating impact that cuts in the county budget will have the sheriff’s office. Guy told Beaver County Radio’s Al Goehring on AM Beaver County this morning that the 2016 revised county budget that was finalized on Tuesday will make it more difficult for him to keep people safe at the courthouse.

New Hotels And Restaurant Coming To Center Twp

Plans for an extended stay hotel and a full service hotel with a restaurant in Center Township are moving forward. Beaver County Radio news correspondent Sandy Jordano reports that the hotels and restaurant will be located where the Beaver County Humane Society used to be located. Township supervisors reviewed plans for the development at Monday night’s meeting. Supervisors say the one hotel will be a Home 2 Suites Hotel and the full service one will be a Hilton Garden Inn. In other business news,  the annual Easter Egg hunt will be Saturday, March 19 at the Central Valley Football stadium beginning at 1 p.m.

Blackhawk School Board To Vote Tonight On Renovation Of Elementary School

The Blackhawk School Board will vote tonight on the possible renovation of Northwestern Elementary School. It’s a topic that has caught the attention of parents who have expressed concerns regarding various health issues that may be connected with the building. If the renovation is approved, the school will temporarily close in June and students will be relocated to Blackhawk Intermediate School and Patterson Primary School until the newly renovated Northwestern Elementary School re-opens in either August or September of 2017.

Pa’s Online Voter Registration Nears 100,000 Mark

The Pennsylvania secretary of state said today that nearly 100,000 people have used the state’s online registration site since it launched in late August. The Department of State says more than 97,800 Pennsylvanians have used the technology, about 60 percent of them eligible citizens registering for the first time and 40 percent of them voters making updates to their registration, such as changing their name, address or party affiliation. March 28 is the deadline for residents to register or update their voter information before the April 26 primary election. The website for online registration is register.votesPA.com.
