Beaver County Commissioner Tony Amadio Not Concerned About Luckow’s Warning Regarding Budget
Beaver County Commissioner Tony Amadio tells Beaver County Radio newsman Pat Septak that he’s not too concerned about county financial administrator Ricardo Luckow’s warning that at least one county department won’t be able to meet its payroll obligations for the current pay period without a budget transfer. Amadio says that budget transfers are done all the time. although he admits he still doesn’t understand the “math” behind all these recent budget moves. Amadio says he was not told which department is in jeopardy but that more details would follow by the end of the week.
Aliquippa Mayor And Family Meets With Michelle Obama During Her Pittsburgh Visit
Aliquippa Mayor Dwan Walker was invited to Pitt’s Fitzgerald Field House yesterday for First Lady Michelle Obama’s visit. Walker, when notified asked,” may I bring my 2 daughters?” he was granted permission to do so. The mayor and daughters Aliyah and Aryonna headed to Pittsburgh for the event and spent five minutes with Mrs. Obama., that included hugs from the First Lady.
Aliquippa City Council Going After Delinquent Garbage Accounts From Past Nine Years
Aliquippa City Council held its monthly work session last night and approved a 1 year agreement with Berkheimer Tax Administrators/Credit Check for collection of all delinquent garbage accounts from 2007-2015. The years 2015 and 2016 will be collected at the city office.
Raccoon Fatal Accident Still Under Investigation
Raccoon Township police are continuing to investigate after two people died in a car crash Saturday evening on Route 18. Police say they have reconstructed the accident and are conducting tests as part of their investigation. Officers would not comment on the specifics of the accident as the investigation is pending. The Beaver County coroner’s office said Sunday that 85-year-old Lloyd Mewha and 82-year-old Alice Mewha of Wellsburg, West Virginia died from blunt force trauma as a result of the accident.

Beaver County Official Confirms At Least One County Department May Not Make Current Payroll
Joe Weidner – the chief of staff at the Beaver County Commissioners office – has confirmed to Beaver County Radio News a report on today’s Beaver County Times website that at least one county department won’t be able to meet it’s payroll obligations for the current pay period without a budget transfer. County Financial Administrator Ricardo Luckow reportedly made the statement to the commissioners during their work session this morning. Weidner tells newsman Pat Septak that he doesn’t know which department that Luckow is referring to… and that Luckow is working to provide more details to the commissioners by the end of the week. Weidner says he will provide that information to us once he gets the final word from Luckow.
Hopewell Area School Board To Have Narcan In Nurses Office For Students Who Overdose On Drugs
The Hopewell School Board met last night and approved a policy where the nurses’ offices at both the junior and senior high will have Naloxone (Narcan) on hand. The drug will be used in the event that there is a student has overdosed on drugs. The board also voted to eliminate the following clubs at the junior high school: Office workers club, Library helpers Club, and PA Club. The PA Club monies $698. 12 was transferred to the Digital Media Club. Elizabeth Barnes resigned as sponsor of Hopewell’s Class of 2017 last night; she was replaced by Ray Smith. Bronwyn Korchnak was appointed Mock Trial Sponsor, and Dean Nelson will take charge of the stage crew.
