Blackhawk and Beaver went into their regular season finale with hopes to reach the playoffs.

After the game, neither team will go.

Central Valley’s victory over Hopewell eliminated Blackhawk, and the Cougars’ 70-49 victory over the Bobcats eliminated Beaver on Beaver County Radio. The Blackhawk victory gives the two teams identical 6-8 records in Section 2-AAAA, tied for 5th and out of playoff contention. Central Valley earns the 4th and final playoff spot in the section at 7-7.

The Bobcats’ Darius Wise and the Cougars’ Trent Michael earned honors as CCBC Players Of The Game.

Six-Car Accident Shuts Down Route 65 In Sewickley

Route 65 in Sewickley was reopened  around 10:15 this morning after being closed for several hours following a six vehicle accident. According to Beaver County Radio News Correspondent Sandy Giordano, police closed the road in both directions, allowing, police, fire, and  EMS personnel  to work at the scene. Police Chief Rich Manko was not available but Allegheny 911  Cmdr. Mike Bizarri provided the info.

Aliquippa Man Jailed After Forcing His Way Into Aliquippa Elementary School

An Aliquippa man is lodged in the Beaver County Jail after entering Aliquippa Elementary School, bypassing security, shoving children  out of the way, running through the hall.   Beaver County Radio News Correspondent Sandy Giordano reports that according to  a report from Dist. Justice Janet Swihart’s office  George D. Powell, 32  entered the school at 9:10 a.m. bypassing security, he is not permitted on school property. Powell is charged with defiant trespass, trespassing on school property criminal trespass, terroristic threats, and harassment , and simple assault. One parent said a letter was sent home telling parents of a security breach  at the school. Bail was set at $40,000, and a hearing for Powell is scheduled at the Beaver County Court House on Monday.

Beaver & Blackhawk Battle For Playoff Lives Tonight

Beaver hosts Blackhawk in their final game of section play in 2-AAAA tonight on Beaver County Radio. Beaver is 6-7 in the section, tied for the fourth and final playoff spot with Central Valley, while Blackhawk is 5-8 and trying to jump both teams to earn a playoff spot. Pre-game is at 7:05, and tip-off is at 7:30. After the game, we’ll cover all of the scores and final standings on the Wrap-Up Show until 10:00.

Penguins Rebound Against Lowly Avalanche

Patric Hornqvist scored two goals, including the game-winner, and the Pittsburgh Penguins defeated the Avalanche in Colorado on Thursday night. Chris Kunitz and Phil Kessel also scored for the Penguins, and Matt Murray stopped 27 of 28 shots. The win put Pittsburgh in second place in the Metropolitan, passing by the Columbus Blue Jackets. The Pens return to action Saturday night against Arizona at 8:00 (pre-game at 7:30 on Beaver County Radio).

Charges Filed Against ‘Unruly Parent’ After Incident At Aliquippa Elementary School

Police are filing charges against a parent following an incident at Aliquippa Elementary School. According to a press release, officers were called to the school at 9:00 this morning. Police say an “unruly parent” had “violated school policy and procedure”. Officers have not identified the parent out of concern for the person’s child. Authorities have not revealed what charges the parent is facing. Aliquippa Police and the Aliquippa School District are investigating. Beaver County Radio News Correspondent Sandy Giordano is digging deeper to get details of what happened and will have an update on AM Beaver County beginning at 6:30 a.m. Friday morning.

Cause Of Pulaski Township House Fire Still Under Investigation

A house fire in Pulaski Twp. yesterday morning is under investigation by the PA State Police fire marshal who was called to the scene. According to Beaver County Radio News Correspondent Sandy Giordano, a male and female and a dog escaped the fire , according to Fire Chief Alan Hickey. Fire Chief Alan Hickey said when firefighters arrived at the scene around 9 a.m.  thr fire was on 3 sides of the  2 story frame home.  chief Hickey said the female was cooking and the fire spread to the home’s second floor. Firefighters from Pulaski and Daugherty Twp assisted along with Big knob and Pine Run  brought in tankers to provide water to  fight the fire . New Brighton and West  Mayfield responded and provided  rehab and vitals to the firefighters .

Man Charged With Robbing Banks In Five Separate Counties, Including Beaver

A 47-year-old Swissvale man is facing multiple charges in connection to six bank robberies in five separate counties, including Beaver County. The U.S. Attorney’s Office announced yesterday Gregory Magee allegedly robbed banks in Beaver, Lawrence, Butler, Allegheny, and Washington counties between January and November 2016. In the latest one in Monroeville, Magee is accused of making off with nearly 80-thousand-dollars. The total from all six robberies is almost 120-thousand-dollars. The grand jury indictment was returned Tuesday.
