Steelers Injuries for Colts Game

The Steelers may have to start a  rookie at tight end Sunday Night against the Indianapolis.   Penn State graduate Jesse James may start.  Tight End Heath Miller did not practice Thursday. He suffered a rib injury during the Seahawks Game last Sunday.  Matt Spaeth is nursing a knee injury.  James played a little on Sunday . Also not practicing was safety Will Allen (ankle) and linebacker  Sean Spence (hamstring). Ben Roethlisberger and linebacker Ryan Shazier who are in the NFL concussion protocol.  They were concussed in the Seattle.  Both practiced on Thursday.  The Steelers and Colts game is on WBVP-WMBA. Big Game At Reeves

The  PIAA Quarter Finals in Football start tonight .  The AA Game Aliquippa vs Karnes City will be played at Reeves Stadium Geneva College. WBVP-WMBA airtime is 6:30pm. KIckoff is 7:00pm.  Meanwhile the Aliquippa Girls Basketball Team is in New York City for a weekend tournament.

 

Beaver County Commissioners Say Their Last Words on ‘Ask The Commissioners’ on Beaver County Radio

Beaver County Commissioners Tony Amadio, Joe Spanik and Dennis Nichols made their final appearance together as a board on the Ask The Commissioners segment on Beaver County Radio this morning with Mike Romigh. Next month, a new board will be in place. Amadio will still be there, but Spanik and Nichols will be replaced with the GOP team of Sandie Egley and Dan Camp. Amadio said he’s going to miss his fellow commissioners, Spanik questioned why the two new Republican commissioners haven’t made an attempt to make a smooth transition (or any kind of transition, for that matter) and Dennis Nichols said he’s proud of his work with this board because despite all their political differences on any number of issues, they were always able to come together and compromise. No word on whether Egley and Camp will come on the show for future Ask the Commissioner segments on Beaver County Radio.

Aliquippa City Council Running Out of Options Financially

Aliquippa City Council met last night and the city’s financial situation was the highlight of the meeting. According to Beaver County Radio news correspondent Sandy Giordano, Mayor Dwan Walker said they have exhausted all avenues and that that they’re going to have to be more aggressive in 2016. Walker said that because of the city’s current Act 47 status they have to go after $429,000 in uncollected trash bills. Berkheimer and Associates will be collecting all unpaid trash bills in 2016. Councilman Don Walker said anyone owing $500 or more, their names will be published, but if they can pay at least $100 their name won’t get turned in to collections.

Nuke Plant Worker Ordered Held For Trial For Porn Found On Work Computer

A former Beaver County nuclear plant worker has been ordered to stand trial on charges he downloaded child pornography pictures on his work computer because he was bored. 60-year-old Raymond Fischer Jr. of Harmony will stand trial in May, now that he waived a preliminary hearing last week. FirstEnergy Corp. says the company promptly reported the images when they were found in October 2013, and fired Fischer from the Beaver Valley Nuclear Power Station three days later. The state police Bureau of Criminal Investigation says 51 printed images of children ages 10 to 16 were found in Fischer’s locker and hundreds more on his work computer.

Three Injured in Crash In Chippewa Township

Three people were injured this morning in a two-vehicle crash in Chippewa. It happened just before 10:00 this morning on Route 51 at Chippewa Town Center. Police say the vehicles collided when one was making a left onto Route 51 and the other was making a left into the Walmart parking lot. The three victims – a woman in her 70’s, and the drivers of both vehicles involved – were taked to local hospitals. Their names and conditions have not been released. However, officials say none of the injuries appeared to be life-threatening.

Ben cleared to practice

Good News and Bad News on the injury front for the Steelers Ben Rothlersberger was cleared and did practice on Wednesday. Tight end Heath Miller didn’t practice due to a rib injury. Also sitting out is wide receiver Martavis Bryant with a hip. Suffering knee injuries are linebacker James Harrison, safety Mike Mitchell. Linebacker Ryan Shazier  is still is going through the NFL concussion Proticol.

 

 

New Site for PIAA Playoff Game

The PIAA has moved the site of Friday nights AA playoff game.  The Karnes City-Aliquippa Game was scheduled for Newman Stadium at North Allegheny High School.  There is a gas leak at the stadium.  The new site is Reeves Stadium at Geneva College. WBVP-WMBA airtime is 6:30 with the kickoff at 7pm.
