Online Deals Started Way Before Cyber Monday

Today is Cyber Monday, what has traditionally been the busiest online shopping day of the year. But the online deals started before today. Target’s digital app, Cartwheel, started offering holiday deals November 1. Amazon started offering 35 days of Black Friday deals on Nov. 16. And Walmart kicked off its Cyber Monday deals on Friday. On today’s Teleforum, Mike Romigh asked Dr. Audry Gusky, Assistant Professor of Marketing at Duquesne University, if the stores have taken the fun out of holiday shopping, to which she responded, they have simply made it easier, which is what people wanted. Consumers spent 21.6 percent more online Friday than they did a year earlier on the day after Thanksgiving.
