An Aliquippa man has been indicted by a federal grand jury in Pittsburgh on charges he distributed the opioid, fentanyl, that led to a person’s death. 42-year-old Cory Bargerstock was indicted Tuesday in U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania. On July 7th, according to the indictment, Bargerstock distributed fentanyl that caused a death. The victim was not identified. The FBI and Hopewell Township Police Department conducted the investigation leading to the indictment.

New Brighton Man Charged With Drug Distribution
A New Brighton man is being accused of distributing an elephant tranquilizer drug. U.S. Attorney Soo Song said yesterday that Reginald Davis distributed the drug and it caused the death of one person. If he is convicted, Davis could spend the rest of his life in prison.
Monaca Mother Accused Of Leaving Young Children Home Alone
A Monaca mother is accused of leaving her kids, 2 and 4 years old, home alone. 23-year-old Nikia Shelehada is facing felony endangerment charges. Police in Monaca said she left two small children alone in an apartment on Marshall Road that was filled with garbage and waste. A neighbor found the toddler outside at 1 a.m. March 7 and called police. Shelehada is in the Beaver County Jail. She’s due in court next month.

Fire at Coraopolis Antiques Shop; 16 People Evacuated
A fire in an antiques store forced 16 people out of their apartments in Coraopolis early this morning. According to Allegheny County Emergency officials, the fire was reported shortly before midnight at Emma Jean’s Attic antiques shop on 5th Avenue. No injuries were reported, but the blaze displaced 16 residents living in apartments above the shop. The cause is under investigation.
Center Township Supervisors Gather For Monthly Meeting
Center Twp. supervisors met last night and renewed an new agreement with Potter Twp. to provide law enforcement services, according to Beaver County Radio News Correspondent Sandy Giordano. The agreement must now be signed by Potter Twp. The supervisors approved the $1.856 million road program for 2017 as prepared by engineer Ned Mitrovich. Lisa Palombo, a part time office clerk was promoted to full time. Police Chief Barry Kramer said that officers used naloxone four times in overdose incidents, and revived 3 out of 4 successfully. B.F. Jones librarian Linda Helms announced her retirement from the library at the end of the month, She has served in that position 6 years, and worked in libraries for a total of 50 years. . She said her replacement hasn’t been named yet. Frank Vescio, chairman of the township planning commission said a meeting will be held Thursday, April 6 with Namdar Realty, the mall’s new owners.
NRC Meets The Public At Shippingport
Silas Kennedy, division chief of reactor projects for the NRC’s Region 1 which includes Shippingport said both reactors at, Units 1 and 2 are operating safely, he revealed the information at an informal gathering last night, according to Beaver County Radio News Correspondent Sandy Giordano. Kennedy said inspectors are on site daily , which is part of the oversight process. He is on site quarterly for inspections and is based in King of Prussia,PA. He is a graduate of the University of South Carolina with a degree in electrical engineering He retired from the Navy as a Lt. Cmdr where he was a submarine officer with weapons experience with torpedoes, tomahawk missiles, and sonar. He was hired in 2001 by NRC after 911 he said. He said inspectors are on site daily , which is part of the oversight process. He said there are team inspections, specialized inspections in fire protection, engineering, emergency preparedness health and radiation inspections. He said after the disaster at Fukishima in March 2011 issues are identified at the state’s 3 nuclear power stations. Issues are identified and categorized the indicators are : green is low significance,white is low to moderate, yellow, moderate, and red is high significance. For Beaver Valley all findings in the 2016 report last week were green. Chief Kennedy said in September Unit 1 had an unplanned power reduction because there was a problem with a pump.Unit 2, the same month had an unplanned power reduction. He said the 2 issues identified were performance indicators. He said all findings were low significance (green). Kenneedy said no questions or concerns came from the public. Senior resident inspector at the site is Jim Krafty, a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy.

Beaver County Residents Invited To Tonight’s Meeting On Beaver Valley Nuclear Power Station Plant Safety
The Nuclear Regulatory Commission will host a public meeting tonight to discuss the safety performance of the Beaver Valley Nuclear Power Station. On hand will be N-R-C officials, who are responsible for inspections of the plant as well as general safety oversight. Officials also will discuss planned inspections this year for Beaver Valley. The open house is set for 5 to 6:30 tonight at the Shippingport community building. Beaver County Radio News Correspondent Sandy Giordano will be there and will have a detailed report tomorrow morning on AM Beaver County.
