Hopewell School Board Introduces New Superintendent
The Hopewell School Board met last night and introduced the new superintendent, Dr.Michelle Miller, to those in the audience, according to Beaver County Radio News Correspondent Sandy Giordano. Dr. Miller replaced Dr. Charles Reina, who retired June 30. Also last night…High school Latin teacher Kathryn Yerep ‘s retirement from the district was approved.. She served the district for 36 years. Dr. Miller called her an “amazing person and teacher”. Kelsey Steele was hired to replace Yerep. The board also approved the hiring of Kylee Babish , who will teach fifth grade. The board’s work session meeting is scheduled for Tuesday , August 9, and the regular meeting will be held on Tuesday, August 23.
Hopewell Commissioners Approve Promotion Of Police Officer To Sergeant
The Hopewell commissioners met Monday evening and approved the promotion of police officer Jill Banovsky to sergeant, according to Beaver County Radio News Correspondent Sandy Giordano. Commissioner’s chairman Rich Bufalini said Sgt. Banovsky has served the township 18 years prior to her promotion.
Police Warn New Sewickley Township Residents To Beware Of Vehicle Break-Ins
Police in New Sewickley Township are warning residents of a recent rash of vehicle break-ins. According to township police, the break-ins have occurred in the areas of Pine Run road, Harvey Run road and Ninth Street Extension. Police have received reports of stolen purses, wallets, loose change and GPS systems. Police say the break-ins have occurred during the evening and overnight. Residents are reminded not to store valuables inside cars and always remember to lock your doors. Authorities are asking anyone who sees anything suspicious to call 9-1-1.
Boy Hit By A Car In New Brighton
Police are investigating after a young boy was hit by a car in New Brighton last night. It happened in front of the Family Dollar Store in the 12-hundred block of 5th Avenue in the borough. The victim was life-flighted to a Pittsburgh hospital. No word on the boy’s name or condition.
Clinton and Kaine Release New Information Regarding Their Pittsburgh Visit This Weekend
Hillary Clinton and Tim Kaine are releasing new details about their weekend stop in Pittsburgh. The pair will hold a rally Saturday at North Shore Riverfront Park. Former Homewood Roller Rink Sold To North Sewickley Township Man
An abandoned roller rink has been sold to a North Sewickley Township resident. The Homewood roller rink sits abandoned on Route 18 in Big Beaver. Keith Hofmeier recently purchased the building for 95-hundred dollars and says he hopes to sell the property. If that doesn’t happen, he may make the site another location for his storage business.

It’s Day 2 of the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia. Tonight…the convention will feature the roll call of the states and former President Bill Clinton will be speaking.
