PIAA 3A Football Championship: Quaker Valley 41, Middletown 24

It was a Cinderella story throughout the regular season.

But neither Walt Disney nor Rodgers & Hammerstein used a knockout punch in their interpretations. Quaker Valley did.

The Quakers earned their first football PIAA Championship with an emphatic 41-24 victory over the Middletown Blue Raiders at Hersheypark Stadium. A trio of touchdowns scored 3:21 apart in the 2nd quarter put the Quakers ahead for good, and Jerry Veshio wins a state title in his lone comeback season with Quaker Valley.

Bob Barrickman, Bruce Frey, and Tom Hays have the scoring recap for Beaver County Radio:

Ethan Moore (Quaker Valley) and Tre’ Leach (Middletown) were selected as the final CCBC Players of the Game of the season.

Both teams finish the season at 14-1.

The 70th season of high school football concludes with a celebration edition of Coaches Corner on Wednesday night.
