(Brigdewater, PA) Head Football coach Coach Geno DeMarco and the Geneva College Golden Tornado Football team were special guests on Coaches Corner at Robert’s Roadside inn on Wednesday Evening.  The sports patio at Roberts roadside Inn took on the colors of old gold and white as the featured guests arrived for the live broadcast.

Beaver County Official Confirms At Least One County Department May Not Make Current Payroll

Joe Weidner – the chief of staff at the Beaver County Commissioners office – has confirmed to Beaver County Radio News a report on today’s Beaver County Times website that at least one county department won’t be able to meet it’s payroll obligations for the current pay period without a budget transfer. County Financial Administrator Ricardo Luckow reportedly made the statement to the commissioners during their work session this morning. Weidner tells newsman Pat Septak that he doesn’t know which department that Luckow is referring to… and that Luckow is working to provide more details to the commissioners by the end of the week.  Weidner says he will provide that information to us once he gets the final word from Luckow.

Hopewell Area School Board To Have Narcan In Nurses Office For Students Who Overdose On Drugs

The Hopewell School Board met last night and approved  a policy where the nurses’ offices at both the junior and senior high will have Naloxone (Narcan)  on hand.  The drug will be used in the event that there is  a student has overdosed on drugs.  The board also voted to eliminate the following clubs at the junior high school: Office workers club, Library helpers Club, and PA Club.  The PA Club monies $698. 12 was transferred to the Digital Media Club. Elizabeth Barnes resigned as sponsor of Hopewell’s Class of 2017 last night; she was replaced by Ray Smith. Bronwyn Korchnak was appointed Mock Trial Sponsor, and Dean Nelson will take charge of the stage crew.

Two Beaver County Men Charged After Fight At Rochester Township Youth Football Game Involving Gun

Two men have been charged with fighting in front of children at a youth football game in Rochester Township. According to police, officers were called Sept. 11 to the Rochester Area High School football field for a fight between a Little Rams football coach and a parent. Police  said 36-year-old Jared Wright, who appeared to be intoxicated, was mad because the coach called his son an expletive. Wright reportedly shoved the coach and threatened him. That’s when 36-year-old Ryan Clark, another parent, took Wright’s sunglasses off so he could look at his eyes. This prompted Wright to push Clark against a car. Clark then pulled a gun from inside the car and threatened Wright. Wright, of 188 Clay St., Rochester, is charged by Rochester police with assault on a sports official and making terroristic threats. Clark, of New Brighton, is charged with simple assault, possession of a weapon on school property, making terroristic threats and disorderly conduct.

Accountant Again Set To Plead In $8M Pa. Cyber Charter School Fraud

An accountant is again set to plead guilty to helping the founder and former CEO of Pennsylvania’s largest online charter school avoid federal income taxes on more than $8 million that man siphoned from the school. Neal Prence is scheduled to enter the plea Wednesday before a federal judge in Pittsburgh. He balked when the plea was scheduled Sept. 19, but his attorney says the plea deal is again expected to occur.Prence is accused of conspiring with Nicholas Trombetta who pleaded guilty to the fraud last month involving The Pennsylvania Cyber Charter School. Trombetta acknowledged using the school’s money to buy a Florida condominium, houses for his mother and girlfriend, and various personal expenses, and socking most of the money away for retirement. He’ll be sentenced Dec. 20.

Hopewell Township Resident Is Honored With Special Award At Township Commissioners Meeting

Hopewell Township board of commissioners at last night’s meeting presented Henry Bufalini with the Robert Steigerwald Volunteer of the Year award for the many contributions he has made to the township park, according to Beaver County Radio News Correspondent Sandy Giordani .  He was also honored for his many contributions to the community  and residents.  Commissioners chairman Rich Bufalini  read the resolution and presented it to  Henry. Bufalini. Some park board members were in attendance for the event. Zoning officer said residents must keep their dogs under control because there have been many complaints called in .. Vegetation on properties bordering streets must be trimmed, and also around fire hydrants. A petition signed by residents of Johnson and Mill Sts. concerning road  conditions was presented to the commissioners.  The road department and engineer will look into the road conditions, which is actually an alley..  Mill St. residents have to enter their property via of Johnson St, and residents said something must be done.

Safety Day will be held at the Hopewell Shopping Center Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.  Police Chief Brian Uhrmacher said they were approached by the shopping center.  Bike helmets and information will be available.  Uhrmacher said if residents have any question, officers will be on hand.
