Commissioners Might Hire Two CYS Attorneys

Beaver County Commissioners chairman Dan Camp reported he and Tony Amadio met with head of children and youth services along with human resources director Sidney Shaw to interview attorneys Joe Askar, Dana Kwidas and Robert Alsko for CYS solicitor. According to Camp, the interviewed found all three qualified and it was determined the job is too demanding for one person. Previously, Robert Masters frequently sub contracted work to other attorneys. So, commissioners are considering hiring two of the three. State funding is ok with that as long as expenditures do not exceed 150 thousand dollars per calendar year. After discussion, commissioners agreed to determine who will be hired at next Wednesday’s work session. The meeting will take place at 10 am in the second floor chambers of the Monaca municipal building.

Camp said the jail, the sheriff and CYS have not submitted their 2019 budget. Camp said the three have been given until Friday to comply.

Solicitor Garen Fedeles set a deadline of next Thursday for commissioners to decide whether or not to assume ownership of the pedestrian bridge in Darlington. Right now, Fedeles is awaiting word of insurance cost from the underwriter

Man Sentenced For Possessing Largest Collection Of Child Porn In State History

A Pennsylvania man has been sentenced to 100 years in prison for what authorities say was the largest collection of child pornography state law enforcement officials have seen. Lawrence Jamieson was sentenced Monday in federal court after pleading guilty in September 2017 to sex crimes and child pornography charges. Authorities say the 59-year-old Jamieson had more than 14.4 million images and videos of children and infants being sexually abused. Jamieson’s stash of images collected over 15 years was discovered when he was arrested on charges he and an accomplice tried to manipulate an underage girl with learning disabilities into performing sex acts on both men. Prosecutors say they filmed and distributed footage of those acts.Prosecutors called Jamieson’s collection “some of the most demented images imaginable.”

Wolf’s administration says school officials requested a stronger police presence.
Troopers are the primary police force in nearly 1,300 municipalities.

PA’s Attorney General, Lawmakers Trying To Apply Pressure Ahead Of Debate In Legislature Over Child Sexual Abuse Legislation

Pennsylvania’s attorney general and several lawmakers are trying to apply public pressure ahead of a debate in the Legislature over giving victims of decades-old child sexual abuse another chance to file civil lawsuits. Tuesday’s events at opposite ends of Pennsylvania are designed to marshal lawmakers’ support to enact recommendations in last month’s sweeping grand jury report on child sexual abuse in the Roman Catholic Church.
