Operation Thank You: Allegheny County Airport Authority to Provide Free Lunches to Federal Workers at Pittsburgh International on Fridays
As a gesture of appreciation to more than 200 federal employees working at Pittsburgh International Airport and Allegheny County Airport without pay due to the ongoing government shutdown, the Allegheny County Airport Authority will distribute free lunches to them throughout Friday. The Airport Authority has joined with Bruegger’s Bagels to provide bagged lunches that include a sandwich, chips, cookie and drink on all shifts for workers including TSA agents and FAA air traffic controllers who are essential to airport safety and security and to keeping operations running smoothly 24/7 at Pittsburgh International and Allegheny County Airport in West Mifflin. A table will be set up on the landside ticketing level at 10 a.m. where airport staff will distribute some of the lunches. Lunches will also be delivered to air traffic controllers and other tower workers at AGC. The Airport Authority plans to continue providing the lunches on Fridays to federal workers until the government is reopen.
