WASHINGTON (AP) — The House Judiciary Committee received a detailed summing up of the impeachment case against President Donald Trump on Monday as Democrats prepare formal charges against him. Trump and his allies lobbed fresh assaults on the proceedings, which they dismiss as a hoax and a sham. Democrats said the facts are not in dispute: They say Trump put himself above the nation as he pressed the president of Ukraine to investigate Democratic rivals at the same time the U.S. was withholding crucial military aid. Republicans derided the Democrats’ effort, saying it was merely their attempt to remove Trump from office because they cannot beat him in next November’s election.

WASHINGTON (AP) — A Justice Department watchdog report finds the FBI was justified in opening its investigation into ties between the Trump presidential campaign and Russia. The report finds the FBI did not act with political bias, despite “serious performance failures” up the bureau’s chain of command. The findings undercut President Donald Trump’s claim that he was the target of a “witch hunt.” The report from the Justice Department’s inspector general revealed for the first time that the FBI had also sent an informant to record a conversation with a “high-level Trump campaign official,” who was not considered a subject in the Russia probe. The official was not identified by name.

WASHINGTON (AP) — House Democrats have reached a tentative agreement with labor leaders and the White House over a rewrite of the U.S.-Mexico-Canada trade deal that has been a top priority for President Donald Trump. That’s according to a Democratic aide not authorized to discuss the talks and granted anonymity. Details still need to be finalized and the U.S. Trade Representative will need to submit the implementing legislation to Congress. No vote has been scheduled. The new, long-sought trade agreement with Mexico and Canada would give both Trump and his top adversary, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, a major accomplishment despite the turmoil of Trump’s likely impeachment.

Two parents are furious after they learned their 2-year-old son, who has autism, managed to walk out of a Beaver County daycare by himself. This happened at Kid Country Child Development in Monaca. Shortly after the incident police called Breanne Steiner – the child’s mother – and told her they had her son. They said someone noticed the child alone on 10th Street going toward Pennsylvania Avenue. According to authorities, the child was wearing no shoes, socks or jacket at the time. Police say no one reported the child missing, so they called the daycare. The owner explained the toddler “managed to slip out the one room he was in” and got out without them noticing.

HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) — Gov. Tom Wolf is putting the state House of Representatives on a timeline to pass legislation to raise Pennsylvania’s minimum wage. The Democratic governor’s office said Friday that the Republican-controlled chamber has until the end of the month. Otherwise, Wolf’s office says he’ll let a rule-making board vote on a regulatory measure to extend overtime pay eligibility to tens of thousands of workers. The Republican-controlled Senate last month approved the legislation raising Pennsylvania’s minimum wage to $9.50 an hour in 2022. The Pennsylvania Chamber of Business and Industry agreed to support a minimum wage increase if Wolf relented on his overtime rule.

State test results show that the drinking water in Coraopolis is contaminated. Testing shows that Coraopolis has some of the highest levels of PFAS contamination of drinking water in the state, but it does not exceed the federal advisory level. PFAS contamination has previously been found at two military bases near Pittsburgh International and Corapolis. So far the Coraopolis Water and Sewer Authority has issued any comment about the state’s test results.

State police will hold a press conference later this morning to announce new details in the arrest of a suspect in an Aliquippa murder over the weekend.
