Beaver County Tax Penalties Partially Exonerated

On Thursday, Beaver County received a notice from the IRS that the 261,040 dollar civil penalty levied on the county for misfiled paperwork in 2016 had been exonerated, but the county is still waiting on word concerning a similar situation in 2018 and another 117,000 dollars in fines. Conor Lamb has written letters to both the President and the IRS in an attempt to get the penalties removed.

Separated Migrant Child Allegedly Molested in Foster Care

SANTA ANA, California (AP) — A 7-year-old migrant child who says he was repeatedly molested in foster care and the father who was separated from him at the border are one of potentially hundreds of lawsuits that could be filed against the federal government by migrant families. A review of just 38 legal claims obtained by The Associated Press shows taxpayers could be on the hook for more than $200 million in damages from parents who said their children were harmed while in government custody.

Fake Charity for Vets Shut Down

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — Virginia’s attorney general says a company has been shut down after it falsely claimed it to be a charity that sent care packages to U.S. service members overseas. In a statement Wednesday, Attorney General Mark Herring’s office identified the company as Hearts 2 Heroes of Bunker Hill, West Virginia.

Criminal History of the Philadelphia Gunman

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Authorities say the criminal history of a man suspected of barricading himself inside a Philadelphia rowhome should have prevented him from legally owning the firepower he used to wound six police officers in a standoff that carried deep into the night. Maurice Hill, who authorities say had at least a semi-automatic rifle and a handgun when he opened fire on officers Wednesday, has on his record arrests in Philadelphia and adjacent Delaware County between 2001 and 2012.

Politics and Hall of Fans were the topics on the “Best Of Beaver County”

(Beaver County, PA) The Best of Beaver County is easy to discover; it’s right on your radio!  Tune in this and every Thursday from 11 to 11:30 A.M.  for “The Best of Beaver County”, an innovative radio program on WBVP and WMBA presented by St. Barnabas. The show is hosted by Jim Roddey and is dedicated to shining light on the great things going on right here in local neighborhoods, and the people that are making it happen. This week Jim’s guests were Jim Christiana, Chairman of the Beaver County GOP Committee and Rick Holman who was recently inducted into the Ford Football Hall Fans.

In the first segment Mr. Roddey  was joined by Jim Christiana. The two talked about Christiana’s time as a Pa. State Representative and the changing times in Beaver County. Christiana discussed Former Gov. Corbett and his role in helping to bring the Shell Cracker Plant to Potter Twp.. The guys also discussed the impact of the plant and President Donald Trump’s visit earlier this week.

 

In Segment two Rick Holman talked about his induction into the Ford Football Hall of Fans in Canton, Ohio . Rick told Roddey about his journey and what his hall of fans display looks like in Canton Ohio.

Outlandish Comments From Steve King

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — Conservative Iowa state Sen. Randy Feenstra says “bizarre comments” from Iowa’s U.S. Rep. Steve King about abortion “diminish our message & damage our cause.” King spoke to a conservative group in Iowa Wednesday, defending his call for a ban on all abortions by questioning whether there would be “any population of the world left” if not for births due to rape and incest.
