Authorities: Police fatally shoot woman armed with handgun
GREENSBURG, Pa. (AP) — Authorities say police shot and killed a woman who pointed a gun at officers and refused their commands to put it down.
The shooting in Greensburg started shortly after 3 p.m. Wednesday when the woman fired shots at a car not far from her home. She then walked back home, and police soon arrived on scene.
Authorities say the woman, armed with a handgun, walked onto her porch. One officer fired a bean bag at her in an unsuccessful bid to disable her, and another officer soon shot her.
The woman was taken to a hospital but died there a short time later. Her name has not been released.
The officers involved in the incident have been placed on administrative leave, which is standard procedure in police-involved shootings.

In their rubber match for a chance to advance to the PIAA quarterfinals, the Lincoln Park Leopards came back from double digits to knock off Aliquippa 71-69 at Moon Area HS on 1460 WMBA. The Leopards will now play Richland out of District 6 in the quarterfinals on Saturday; site & time to be determined.

It was a slow start to, what would be a great PIAA second round basketball game. After the first quarter it was Sharon-16 Beaver Falls-12. It was extremely close going to the half until Sharon scored a three at the buzzer to enhance their lead to 29-23 going into the half. Beaver falls came out scoring early in the third and took the lead. The lead bounced back and fourth the entire third quarter, but it was Sharon-44 Beaver Falls-40 going into the final quarter. Beaver Falls fought hard, but couldn’t find the threes late in the game.
