WILKINSBURG, Pa. (AP) — Authorities say several shots were fired into an occupied car that soon crashed into several other vehicles and a building, leaving a man dead and two women wounded. But it’s not clear what sparked the shooting in Wilkinsburg, which happened around 9:25 p.m. Sunday. Authorities say a 22-year-old man and the two women, ages 21 and 25, had just left a home and gotten into a car when several shots rang out. The male driver sped off and but soon crashed, ending up in a nearby yard.

Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Anthony Chickillo has been arrested on charges of simple assault, criminal mischief, and harassment. According to the criminal complaint, Chickillo was arrested Sunday by the Uniontown Pennsylvania State Police. Police say the arrest was from a domestic dispute that happened at Nemacolin Woodlands Resort with his girlfriend, Alysha Newman. Chickillo says the argument became physical when Newman hit him in the head. Newman says she punched Chickillo in the head after he grabbed her and forced her against the door and wall in the room. She had injuries on her biceps. The Steelers say they are still gathering information regarding the arrest. Chickillo was taken into custody and released on a $10,000 bail. He will have a preliminary hearing on October 30.

Chippewa Township police will conduct aggressive-driving enforcement as part of a national crackdown. This crackdown begins today and continues until November 17th. Beaver County Radio Newsman Pat Septak spoke with PennDOT spokesperson Yasmeen Manyisha….

 

Over 200 municipal police agencies and the Pennsylvania State Police will focus on motorists exhibiting aggressive driving behaviors, such as speeding, tailgating and school bus and steer clear law violations.

 

PennDOT District 11 is announcing work to inspect the Vanport Bridge, which carries I-376 (Beaver Valley Expressway) over the Ohio River in Potter and Vanport townships, Beaver County, will begin Monday, October 21 weather permitting.  Single-lane closures in each direction will occur from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays through Tuesday, October 29.  Crews from TranSystems will conduct the inspection activities. At least one lane of traffic will remain open in each direction at all times. Motorists can check conditions on more than 40,000 roadway miles, including color-coded winter conditions on 2,900 miles, by visiting www.511PA.com. 511PA, which is free and available 24 hours a day, provides traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, traffic speed information, and access to more than 950 traffic cameras. 511PA is also available through a smartphone application for iPhone and Android devices, by calling 5-1-1, or by following regional twitter alerts accessible on the 511PA website.
