Ambridge Police Chief Being Investigated; Placed On Leave!

Ambridge’s chief of police has been placed on administrative leave. Ambridge Borough Council unanimously voted to put Chief James Mann on leave amid a Pennsylvania State Police investigation. It is unclear what troopers are investigating Mann for and council did not mention a reason during their Tuesday vote. In addition, Ambridge Council has appointed a local firm to conduct an independent investigation into the police department. The council also took a “disciplinary measure” last night against a second Ambridge officer, who is not being identified. That officer was suspended without pay for 30 days. Sandy Giordano was at the Ambridge Council meeting last night and is working to learn more details. Stay with Beaver County Radio News for the latest on this developing story.

“Embrace Your Voice” on Teleforum April 10, 2018

Ann Colella-Murray, Education Training Coordinator at the Beaver County Women’s Center was a guest of Frank Sparks on Teleforum at 10 AM April 10, 2018. Ann discussed what the Women’s Center does and the services that they provide. Frank and Ann discussed domestic violence and sexual assault and the staggering problem that seems to be growing more each year. Ann told the listeners that people think of the Women’s Center as just a shelter but they do so much more providing shelter, services, and education about domestic violence and sexual assault. They also talked about the 24 Hour help line that is provided by the Women’s Center by dialing 724-775-0131 that can help if you feel the need. Ann Explained though that if you are or feel that you’re  in danger  you need to dial 911  .

The main reason for Ann’s visit was that the month on April is Sexual Assault Awareness month and the Women’s Center is having a display at different locations throughout the county  of pictures that were drawn and painted by someone who has been affected by a sexual assault.  You can see the boards and quilts that have been put together to by sexual assault survivors at the Beaver Falls Library, the Beaver County Courthouse, the Beaver Library and Penn State, Beaver Campus thru out the month of April. Check out the pictures that Ann brought in for Facebook Live and for us to display on our web-site…….

Pennsylvania eyes expanding medical marijuana to plant form

Pennsylvania eyes expanding medical marijuana to plant form
By MARC LEVY, Associated Press
HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) — A state medical marijuana board is recommending that Pennsylvania allow the sale of marijuana in dry leaf form, in theory to allow users to vaporize and inhale it.
It is also recommending that Pennsylvania expand the kinds of medical conditions it can be used to treat. That includes cancer remission therapy and severe pain, without first trying other painkillers or therapy.
The Medical Marijuana Advisory Board voted Monday to send the recommendations to Health Secretary Rachel Levine to decide whether the Department of Health should create regulations allowing the changes.
The law still prevents dispensaries from selling marijuana that’s designed to be smoked. But cannabis consumer advocate Chris Goldstein says no state law would prevent certified medical marijuana users from buying the dry leaf product and smoking it legally, instead of vaporizing it.
