Pirates place Nick Burdi on IL with biceps, elbow pain
PITTSBURGH (AP) — Reliever Nick Burdi has been placed on the 10-day injured list by the Pittsburgh Pirates with pain in his right biceps and elbow.
Burdi grabbed his arm in pain after a pitch in the seventh inning of Pittsburgh’s 12-4 loss to Arizona on Monday.
Pittsburgh said Tuesday he had a magnetic resonance angiogram and is seeking a second opinion from Texas Rangers team physician Dr. Keith Meister.
Burdi has thrown just 10 innings in the majors since returning from Tommy John surgery in 2017.
Left-hander Steven Brault was recalled from Indianapolis, a day after he was optioned to the Triple-A team.

(Beaver Falls, Pa.) Bob Williams a Democratic Candidate for Beaver County Recorder of Deeds was Frank Sparks’ guest on Teleforum Tuesday April 23, 2019 in the ten o’clock hour.

Bob’s appearance was part of the continuing series in which Frank is highlighting the candidates running for election on the county level in Beaver County. The primary election is on Tuesday May 21, 2019.

To start the interview Williams discussed his early life growing up in Hopewell and told the listeners who Bob Williams is. He then told the listeners about his family and was beaming in pride as he talked about his grand daughter. Frank and Bob discussed his professional career and previous run at a state seat. Williams explained his experience and what he feels qualifies him to be the next Beaver County Recorder of Deeds.

Bob Williams will be running on the Democratic Ticket against Dee Dixon and Michael Jackson. The winner of the May 21 primary will then take Ronald Alberti, who is running unopposed on the Republican Ticket in the primary, on November 5, 2019 in the general election.

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Supreme Court’s conservative majority seems untroubled by the Trump administration’s plan to add a citizenship question to the 2020 census. There appeared to be a clear divide between the court’s liberal and conservative justices in arguments Tuesday in a case that could affect how many seats states have in the House of Representatives and their share of federal dollars over the next 10 years.

Largest Firefighters Union Preparing To Endorse Biden For President

WASHINGTON (AP) — The largest firefighters union is preparing this week to endorse Joe Biden’s expected bid for the presidency. The former vice president is the most high profile Democratic contender who has not yet jumped in the crowded primary. He is expected to launch a campaign this week. Harold Schaitberger, general president of the International Association of Fire Fighters, says the union’s board is meeting this week to vote on an endorsement. They expect to formally announce the decision next week.

16-Year-Old Girl Shot In The Face By Teen Playing With A Gun In North Braddock

NORTH BRADDOCK, Pa. (AP) — Authorities say a Pennsylvania teenager who was playing with a gun shot a 16-year-old girl in the face. The shooting occurred around 8:30 p.m. Monday in a North Braddock apartment. Authorities say a 16-year-old boy brought the gun to the apartment and was “horseplaying” with it when it discharged. The wounded girl remains hospitalized. But her name and further details on her condition have not been disclosed. No other injuries were reported in the shooting.

Gas Prices A Penny Cheaper This Week

According to this week’s Triple-A East Central Gas price report, the average price of gasoline across Western Pennsylvania is a penny cheaper this week at $3.03 per gallon. The price is lower in Beaver at 3.00 a gallon. A year ago prices in Western Pennsylvania averaged 2.97 a gallon.

Pennsylvania’s Auditor General Taking Issue With Harrisburg School District

Auditor General Eugene DePasquale is taking issue with the Harrisburg School District. DePasquale says the district isn’t cooperating with auditors working for the Department of Education. DePasquale added that he’s deeply troubled over the board’s vote October 15th to not cooperate, given their past financial scandals and budget issues. The district has been under state-imposed financial recovery status since 2012.

Joe Biden Reportedly Coming To Pittsburgh Next Week

The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette is reporting that former Vice-President Joe Biden will visit Pittsburgh on Monday. But whether or not he’ll officially be in the presidential race by then remains a mystery. The P-G says that Biden will hold an event at the Teamsters Local 249 hall in Lawrenceville at 4 p.m., according to a source with direct knowledge of the booking. The event won’t be officially hosted by the labor council, which hasn’t yet endorsed a candidate in the Democratic presidential primary. Biden was expected to launch his campaign for president this week, though his specific plans on the roll-out are still up in the air.
