Beaver County Man Accused of Ripping Off Car Buyers
A Beaver County man is being accused of ripping off unsuspecting car buyers. State police say Brian Frazin doctored the odometers on several vehicles before selling them for more than they’re worth. Ten people have been victimized over the past 18 months, but troopers believe there are more victims.
Annual Public Auction Taking Place at Pgh Int’l Airport Saturday
Tomorrow could be your day if you’ve ever wanted to own a bomb squad vehicle. Saturday, there will be 15 vehicles up for auction that were abandoned at Pittsburgh International Airport as well as some other county vehicles during the airport’s annual auction. Matzie: Grant of Nearly $4,000 Will Make Aliquippa’s Historic Library More Energy Efficient

A more energy-efficient heating system is coming to Aliquippa’s historic B.F. Jones Memorial Library…. thanks to a $40-thousand-dollar Keystone grant from the state Department of Education. State Rep. Rob Matzie made the announcement yesterday.
Matzie said the funding will enable the library, built in 1928 and added to the National Register of Historic Places 50 years later, to replace its aging boiler….
Matzie added that the new system will save taxpayers money by cutting operational costs.
Premiums for Health Insurers’ Individual Policies in PA for 2020 to Reflect Aggregate Statewide Increase of 4%
HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) — Premiums for health insurers’ individual policies in Pennsylvania for 2020 will reflect an aggregate statewide increase of 4%, with an increase of 10% in the small group market. The Pennsylvania Department of Insurance said Thursday that the new plans will be available when open enrollment starts Nov. 1. Premiums for individual health insurance policies dropped in the current year, after increases the two years before that averaged over 30% in Pennsylvania.
Spirit Airlines to Begin Nonstop Flight to Cancun, Mexico from Pgh Int’l Airport
There is a new direct flight coming to Pittsburgh that will land in a warmer climate. Spirit Airlines has announced it will begin a nonstop flight to Cancun, Mexico from Pittsburgh International Airport. Spirit officials say the direct flights will start February 13th and will fly on Tuesday, Thursday, and Sundays. Two years ago, Southwest announced it would fly from Pittsburgh to Cancun one day per week seasonally.
Beaver County’s Agricultural Land Preservation Board Taking Applicatons for Easement Purchase Program
Beaver County’s Agricultural Land Preservation Board is taking applications for their easement purchase program. Any landowner who has 50 or more acres in the county can apply up until December 31st of this year. Since 1995, the program has purchased more than three-thousand acres of farm land on 28 farms.

(Beaver Falls, Pa.) The ‘Best of Beaver County” with host Jim Roddey was all about teaching and learning on Thursday October 17, 2019. The “Best of Beaver County ” is brought to you by St. Barnabas Helath System. Jim’s guests this week were London Cain,Founder, President of the Iron Horse Theater a Non Profit that offers after school programs for kids and Chris Coskey, (aka Kate Harris) voice over actress, Owner-Operator of B-Well Nation Fitness Center. Named 2019 Beaver County Chamber Entrepreneur of the Year.
In the First Segment Mr. Roddey talked to Cain about his early life and what led him to the Pittsburgh area. Cain then went on to talk about his love for teaching and told the listeners that he is currently a Language Arts teacher in the Moon School District during the day and a teacher of the Arts in the evening. Cain discussed the Iron Horse Theater and how it came to be. The hard work that was put into making the theater a reality. The pair also discussed one of the upcoming plays that is about former Pittsburgh Steeler legend the Late Mike Webster. He talked bout how he has studied the great man that Mike was so that he could write t the perfect play. Finally Cain highlighted the free non-profit programs that the theater has for children and the programs they have for adults.
In segment two Mr. Roddey talked with Chris Cosky about her early years growing up in West Moreland County and her early life career of radio working for 100.7 FM and how one day she lost her job and had no clue what she was going to do next they she met up with the founder of B-Well and learned about herself and thus was able to make moves to feel good about herself. As time progressed Chris is now the owner and also an instructor for B-Well, Which is located in Patterson Twp.. Chris said she is honored to be recognized by the Beaver County Chamber as the Entreprenuer of the year. Chris told the listeners of the good things that B-Well nation can do for anyone no matter what your goal of health is and that their goal is for exactly like their name and that is for their clients to B-Well.

Powerful Democratic Congressman Elijah Cummings has Died
NNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) — Maryland Rep. Elijah E. Cummings died early Thursday at Johns Hopkins Hospital due to complications from longstanding health challenges, his congressional office said. He was 68. A sharecropper’s son, Cummings became the powerful chairman of a U.S. House committee that investigated President Donald Trump, and was a formidable orator who passionately advocated for the poor in his district that encompassed a large portion of Baltimore. Cummings hadn’t returned to work after having a medical procedure that he said would only keep him away for about a week.
